Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner are just a few of the names attached to acclaimed director David O. Russell’s upcoming drama, according to Deadline. The film, which was originally known as American Bull—, has been in the works since earlier this year. However, rumors surrounding Bales’ involvement in the forthcoming drama were recently confirmed with multiple movie-oriented websites.
The film, which is currently untitled as of this writing, will bring Russell together with his Fighter co-stars Amy Adam and Christian Bale. In addition to directing the film, David O. Russell will co-write the script with Eric Warren Singer, the man who penned the original screenplay.
Variety describes the film as follows:
“Based on a true story, Bale will play a financial con artist who, along with his mistress (played by Adams), are forced to work with an ambitious FBI agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con men, mobsters and politicians. Renner will play the leader of the New Jersey state assembly.”
Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven, who has been tapped to produce the film alongside Richard Suckle and Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison and Ted Schipper, is understandably excited about the director’s upcoming project.
“David has put together an incredible ensemble of actors for what is going to be a powerful and emotional drama about one of the most memorable cast of characters in recent history,” Roven explained.
Presently, the untitled David O. Russell project is scheduled to arrive in theaters sometime next year. Sony Pictures will reportedly handle distribution in the United States.
Now that he’s finished with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Christian Bale is now free to tackle a number of different productions. In addition to the aforementioned David O. Russell flick, the actor will star in writer-director Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furnace with Zoe Saldana, Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, and Sam Shepard.
