‘7th Heaven’ Reunion Is A Go As Long As They Kill Off Dad

Catherine Hicks, who played the matriarch Annie Camden for years on 7th Heaven says she is all in for a 7th Heaven reunion show, but only if it opens with the father, a pastor Reverend Eric Camden, played by Stephen Collins in a coffin. Though the cast would like to get back together, the stigma that is stuck to Collins, who admitted in 2014 to molesting three minors over twenty years, also follows the show.

Hicks said that she would love for the show to get the Fuller House treatment, referring to Full House getting a facelift, turning it into Fuller House. According to the Inquisitr, the Full House remake, Fuller House was not without drama, as the Olsen twins, Mary Kate and Ashley, who together played Michelle Tanner from infancy to school aged, refused to participate in the remake. One theory as to why they turned down a part in the reunion was a feud with Full House star John Stamos, but the Olsen’s claim their life is in fashion, and they no longer act.

Catherine Hicks, the star of 7th Heaven, says that it’s up to the writers to put together a 7th Heaven reunion that doesn’t include Collins, according to Page Six.

“I don’t know. We’d have to open with Stephen’s coffin.”

Hicks says that the rest of the cast is still close, and she thinks they’d love a chance to get back together on-screen. Hicks says that one storyline could be finding a new love for the widowed Annie Camden.

The problems started for Stephen Collins, who played the patriarch, Reverend Eric Camden on 7th Heaven for its full run, when his now former wife, Faye Grant, taped him confessing to being a child molester, according to TMZ. That sparked an investigation into children who had come in contact with Collins over the years by the NYPD.

In therapy sessions, Collins went into great detail describing his molestation in great detail. Collins admits to molesting an 11 year old girl in New York.

“There was one moment of touching where her hand, I put her hand on my penis.”

Collins also says he exposed himself to girls ranging from 11 to 13. The recordings led to an investigation into inappropriate contact with minors.

Us Weekly says that Stephen Collins then came clean with Katie Couric about exposing himself to young girls, and touching them, which explains why the rest of the cast wouldn’t want him as a clergy figure on what was supposed to be a fairly wholesome family show. Even though Collins talks about his deep regret, the show will not go on with him.

“In 1973, there were two occasions when I exposed myself to this young woman. Several months later, she came to visit and stay with us, with my first wife and me. My wife had gone to sleep, and she and I were watching TV alone together … I knew that something unthinkably wrong had just happened that I couldn’t take back.”

Collins says that he, like Reverend Camden in 7th Heaven, relies on his faith to get him through.

“I had put that stuff behind me. I’m a flawed person. In the church, it’s actually one of the things I love about the church… It’s really one of the main things about the Christian faith, is you know, Christ said in so many ways, ‘Bring me that… which about you is broken, bring it,’ and most people are broken in some way.”

The cast of 7th Heaven, minus Collins, recently reunited for the opening of cast member Jessica Biel’s new restaurant Au Fudge in West Hollywood. Fans will have to wait and see if the 7th Heaven crowd gets back together to bury the good reverend.
