Bill and Giuliana Rancic are already training baby Duke for next year’s Chicago Marathon.

The couple are enjoying their long-awaited new roles as parents, and, during hosting duties for the Nike + Run Club event leading up to the Chicago Marathon this Sunday, the Rancics announced that they are training baby Duke to run the marathon along with them next year. “We’re going to train next year,” Giuliana Rancic said. “And we’re going to stroll him the whole way.”

“Next year, my goal is to run in the marathon pushing Duke in a jogger stroller,” Bill told E! News at the newly reopened Niketown on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. He added that the couple are already getting baby Duke off to a good start regarding personal fitness despite the fact that Duke has barely mastered crawling yet.

Regardless, Bill admitted that they’re already getting started, having gone on a two-hour walk with baby Duke just last week.

“Well, he didn’t walk,” Giuliana clarified, causing Bill to amend his comment and admit that baby Duke was merely along for the ride in a stroller. “Two hours, I pushed him,” Bill beamed.

“We’ll definitely encourage him to be fit,” Giuliana said of baby Duke, born on August 29. “We love getting outside, we love hiking, we love running.”

Though training baby Duke for the Chicago Marathon next year may sound ridiculous, it’s hard to hold the Rancic’s enthusiasm in contempt. After a long and often troubled road, the couple have finally reached their goal of becoming parents and are “loving every minute” of the experience. Giuliana talked about her new role as Duke’s mom with Celebrity Baby Scoop, saying:

“We are thrilled to have Duke in our lives and could not be happier parents. Life with Duke is great – he has been a dream baby! Our entire day revolves around him and everything feels complete now.”
