WWE News: Creative Plans For Seth Rollins After ‘WWE Clash of Champions’ Revealed

After months of anticipation and speculation, Seth Rollins returned to WWE programming after serious knee surgery at WWE Extreme Rules back in May. Since returning, he’s been the WWE Champion for a few minutes, failed to win the WWE Universal Championship against Finn Balor, and been betrayed by Triple H, whom was seen as his mentor for two years of WWE television. It’s been a frustrating year thus far for him.

Last night at WWE Clash of Champions, Rollins faced Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship but was thwarted to win the title due to interference from Chris Jericho, and eventually Owens was able to pin Seth to steal the victory. Despite the loss, the WWE Universe showed their appreciation for his effort after the match and the tide is beginning to turn for Seth Rollins as you can clearly see in the video below.

When Seth Rollins emerged back onto WWE programming at WWE Extreme Rules, he was welcomed back with open arms by the WWE Universe. However, Seth continued his heel persona because Roman Reigns was the WWE Champion, and Rollins emerging as a heel on the title picture made a lot more sense at the time. The plan worked but as the months have gone on, it’s becoming more difficult to keep him as a heel.

After Triple H’s betrayal during the Fatal Four Way a few weeks ago, there has been a shift in perception of how the WWE Universe looks at Seth Rollins. While WWE officials will be progressing the feud between Rollins and Triple H over the next several months, WWE is amidst a major change of character for Seth Rollins.

According to a new report that was released after WWE Clash of Champions, Seth Rollins is undergoing a major babyface turn, which is expected to be a slow burn. As obvious as his face turn seems to be, the report is claiming that WWE has plans going forward that the face turn will be full-blown, traditional, and there will be at least one huge moment to cement him as the top face for the Raw brand.

Most people were expecting Triple H to interfere in the match with Owens at WWE Clash of Champions last night instead of Chris Jericho. The rumors were claiming that HHH vs. Rollins would culminate at WWE Survivor Series in November and that big face turn moment would be defeating The Game clean in Toronto.

However, WWE officials are holding off on Triple H returning to WWE programming because the long-term plan for their rivalry is for it to culminate at Wrestlemania 33 next year in Orlando. Rollins’ face turn will happen brick by brick over time. For now, his creative plans for after WWE Clash of Champions are unclear with WWE having many directions they could take the story tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw.

Chris Jericho getting involved in Owens vs. Rollins last night could be a way for him to be asserted into the WWE Universal title picture. Jericho vs. Owens vs. Rollins at WWE Hell in a Cell next month could be an interesting feud considering that the former pair are onscreen “best friends.”

However, the situation with Cesaro and Sheamus hasn’t been resolved yet, so one of them is still owed a “championship opportunity” courtesy of Mick Foley. WWE could book a feud between Jericho and Rollins over the next several weeks based on last night’s ending, but that may cool Seth’s momentum. All we know as of this writing is whatever WWE has planned, it will involve Seth Rollins being seen in a new light.
