The St. Louis Rams may be missing the services of receiver Danny Amendola for several weeks after he was injured in the team’s Thursday night 17-3 win over the Cardinals.

Amendola — who entered the game with 31 receptions, second in the NFL — left the contest midway through the second quarter after landing on his shoulder when making a catch.

After the play, cameras caught Amendola flinging his helmet into a wall with his left hand while on his way to get X-rays.

Following the game, sources familiar with the situation said Amendola, who was seen with his right arm in a sling, broke his collarbone.

Amendola, who missed virtually all of the 2011 season with a dislocated left elbow, will have a CT scan on Friday morning. ESPN notes that the typical recovery time from for a broken collarbone is four to six weeks.

“Ya, it’s big, I’m not gonna lie,” Rams quarterback Sam Bradford told NFL.com after the game. “Obviously, he’s a big part of the offense. A lot of what we do runs through him. He went down last year and it really hurt us. I feel confident about our guys we got this year and I think it just opens up a spot for someone to step up and make some plays.”

Prior to the injury, Amendola had a 44-yard reception on the Rams’ first drive, setting up a TD pass from Sam Bradford to Lance Kendricks. For the season, Danny has 395 receiving yards and two touchdowns and is averaging 12.3 yards per catch.
