Angelina Jolie ‘In Agony’ After Divorce, ‘Her Family Is Broken,’ Source Reports

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are both struggling to cope with the fallout from their divorce. At least, that’s what several sources are reporting.

On Saturday, People reportedly spoke with a family member of Angelina Jolie, who said that the 41-year-old mother of six is “in agony” after the events of the past week.

“Her family is broken and she is in agony. Her children are recovering from the events that brought about the filing of the divorce.”

Initial reports indicated that Jolie filed for divorce on Tuesday citing “irreconcilable differences.” Later, her attorney Robert Offer said that Jolie had filed the paperwork “for the health of the family.”

Subsequent rumors indicated that Angelina may have filed for divorce because she had grown weary of Brad Pitt’s alleged marijuana and alcohol abuse. Additionally, TMZ reported that sources close to Jolie believe the 52-year-old actor may have an anger problem.

As details continued to emerge, sources began to report that Brad Pitt was being investigated by the FBI as a result of a child abuse claim. According to the reports, Pitt and his oldest child, 15-year-old Maddox, got into a screaming match aboard the family’s private jet after a fight between Jolie and Pitt “escalated more than it should have.”

According to People, sources close to Brad Pitt insist that Pitt is not guilty of child abuse, as Pitt did not hit Maddox and there was “no sign of physical injury on Maddox.”

Still, sources close to the family assert that the airplane incident played a role in Jolie’s decision to file for divorce. A family member told People that Jolie is thinking only of her children at this point.

“Her focus is on their health and emotional well-being.”

Pitt and Jolie were married for just more than two years, though they had been a couple for more than twelve years. Together, Jolie and Pitt have six children: Maddox, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, Knox, 8, and Vivienne, 8. Jolie has requested sole physical custody of the children, though she has acknowledged that she would be willing to give Brad Pitt visitation rights. Angelina has not requested financial support from Brad.

While Angelina struggles with the agony of her broken family, reports indicate that Brad Pitt has not been handling the divorce very well, either. On Saturday Hollywood Life reported that Brad Pitt has been “crying his eyes out” because he’s “terrified” of losing his children.

“Thinking about losing them cripples him. Brad can’t help but break down into tears thinking about it. He’s been crying a lot, probably more than he ever has.”

A source close to Brad told TMZ that Pitt is a wonderful father, and reports indicating otherwise are “malicious” lies.

“He’s a loving and devoted father who has never and would never put his children in any dangerous situation.”

Publicly, Brad Pitt hasn’t had much to say since the news of the divorce broke, though he has released a statement asking for privacy for his children throughout the process.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
