It looks like giant rats and overpriced housing aren’t the only concerns for citizens of New York’s Long Island.

On Wednesday, police captured a 3- to 4-foot alligator in the parking lot of a Pathmark supermarket in Baldwin, New York.

Upon their arrival, Nassau County police subdued the reptile and held it until the Nassau Emergency Services Unit arrived to capture it.

According to the NY Daily News, it was the third gator found roaming free on Long Island in less than a week.

“I think it’s horrible. Scary and horrible,” one shocked Long Island citizen said upon hearing of the recent gator sightings.

“Nothing surprises me anymore,” a man told CBS News.

On Tuesday evening, another alligator was spotted at Pathway by a shopper walking to his vehicle around 7:51 pm.

And last Friday, an alligator was found crawling on the front lawn of a home in Mastic Beach.

In that incident, the homeowner managed to capture the 2-foot critter in a plastic bin. It was initially taken to a nearby pet shop and then moved to Jungle Bob’s in Centereach.

As for the Pathway gators, HuffPo notes that the rogue reptiles will be sent to a sanctuary in Florida.

The Nassau County SPCA said Wednesday night that it is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person who may be releasing the alligators.
