Brock Lesnar Defeats Randy Orton In Rematch At Chicago House Show

The first-ever Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton pay-per-view match at last month’s SummerSlam ended in a bloodbath, as Lesnar sliced Orton’s head open with a viscous elbow. The cut required 10 staples, and it was later revealed that Orton had suffered a concussion as well.

WWE just recently cleared Orton to get back in the ring, just in time for him to go one-on-one with Lesnar yet again, and even though their rematch, which took place at a Chicago house show on Saturday night, was described by WWE.com as a “viscous back and forth battle,” it was a lot safer than their first encounter, simply because there was no blood spilled, and no concussions suffered. And to the surprise of no one, Lesnar won the rematch.

Footage of the match will probably pop up at some point, but for now, WWE has only provided us with a few photos via their Instagram page. You can check them out below.

WWE’s website said that Lesnar won the match clean in the middle of the ring with the F-5, and that after the match, he continued to attack Orton, as he delivered a few more suplexes before leaving the ring. Of course, the post match attack probably won’t lead to anything simply because it wasn’t a televised match. But, there’s a chance that Orton and Lesnar may have one more match on pay-per-view at some point.

For right now though, it looks like Orton will be involved in a long term feud with Bray Wyatt. The two men were originally scheduled to wrestle at Backlash earlier this month, but due to the fact that he was still suffering from a concussion, Orton wasn’t able to compete, and Kane wrestled Bray instead. But, Orton did end up getting involved in the match, as he assisted Kane in getting the win over Bray.

Brock Lesnar will probably be off of WWE television until the beginning of next year, and when he returns, it’s expected that he’ll be working with SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon. As of right now, it looks like we’ll actually be getting a Lesnar vs. Shane match at the Royal Rumble show in January, which could lead to Shane bringing in someone like Goldberg of Samoa Joe to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 33.

There’s also a chance that WWE won’t do Lesnar vs. Shane, and that they’ll have “The Beast” go after the WWE Universal Championship. Kevin Owens, who is the current champ, said recently during an interview with Sirius XM’s Sam Roberts that he’d love to get in the ring with Brock Lesnar. On top of that, Owens vs. Lesnar has been a match that WWE fans have wanted to see ever since KO made his debut on the main roster last year.

In a recent interview where Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman were promoting the upcoming release of WWE 2K17, a match between “The Beast” and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania 33 was teased. Of course, it’s been 14 years since they’ve been in the ring together, and it’s a match that WWE has wanted to do ever since Lesnar returned to the company in 2012. In fact, they even had it planned for WrestleMania 30, but they had to cancel it due to The Rock suffering an injury during a match with John Cena.

Other possible opponents for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 include Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman, although it’s unlikely that WWE will actually put Strowman in the ring with Lesnar this coming spring, but, you never know. At one point, WWE was planning to do Lesnar vs. Strowman at this year’s SummerSlam, but they ended up changing their mind.
