Bobby Kennedy Speechwriter, Influential NYC Politician, Lifelong Dems, Endorse Donald Trump

Two lifelong Democrats deeply involved in the party announced this past week that they are voting for Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton.

Although Clinton and the media have highlighted the various GOP Never Trump types who are publicly supporting her campaign, the reverse is also apparently in play.

One of the Democrats who has climbed about the Trump train is Adam Walinsky, an aide to Robert Kennedy, the former U.S. attorney general and senator who was President John F. Kennedy’s brother.

Walinsky more or less deemed Hilary Clinton a warmonger and contemporary Democrats as enablers of the military-industrial complex, which is similar criticism to that raised by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein about Clinton.

Although acknowledging that Trump can be “crude” and “vulgar,” the Republican nominee is, in his view, courageously defying the political establishment, including Beltway war hawks, Walinsky explained in Politico.

“But today’s Democrats have become the Party of War: a home for arms merchants, mercenaries, academic war planners, lobbyists for every foreign intervention, promoters of color revolutions, failed generals, exploiters of the natural resources of corrupt governments….Nor has the Democratic Party candidate for president this year, Hillary Clinton, sought peace. Instead she has pushed America into successive invasions, successive efforts at ‘regime change’…In fact, in all the years of the so-called War on Terror, only one potential American president has had the intelligence, the vision, the sheer sanity to see that America cannot fight the entire world at once…That candidate is Donald Trump…”

While Trump is a flawed candidate, “he offers a path away from constant war, a path of businesslike accommodation with all reasonable people and nations, concentrating our forces and efforts against the true enemies of civilization,” Walinsky added.

Another lifelong Democrat is bucking party loyalty to vote for Trump over Clinton. A one-time mayoral hopeful, Andrew Stein was a member of the New York State Assembly, the New York City Council, and served as Manhattan borough president from 1978 to 1985. He describes both Kennedy brothers as his political heroes and noted that his father was one of the pallbearers at Bobby Kennedy’s funeral after he was assassinated.

Stein outlined his reasons in the Wall Street Journal for supporting Trump instead of Clinton.

“I believe my party has become the party of the elites and moneyed class and has deserted its historic mission as the party of the working class and disadvantaged…While [Trump] has made some controversial and provocative statements, I strongly believe he will bring needed change and vitality to our nation and shake up our political system, which is in a state of crisis..,Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is the personification of the establishment and status quo. She voted for the war in Iraq and supported the Iran nuclear deal, two of the worst, and most-dangerous, mistakes in American foreign policy during my lifetime…Her domestic record is as bad as her international one….”

Stein briefly dated Ann Coulter some years ago, and in March 2011 was sentenced in federal court to community service and three years of probation for failing to pay his 2008 income tax bill, Bloomberg reported at the time.

“[Trump] is for strong pro-growth policies like reducing the marginal and corporate tax rates and eliminating thousands of job-killing and business-stifling regulations, the biggest of which is ObamaCare,” Stein added in his WSJ essay in which he also expressed his dissatisfaction with the “leftist orientation” of the Democratic Party.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are scheduled to meet in the first presidential debate Monday night in New York at Hofstra University. The expectation is that Hillary Clinton has done her homework and memorized her policy positions, while there will be much scrutiny on any possible gaffes or headstrong outbursts from Trump. Others will be watching to see if Hillary Clinton lapses into another coughing fit. Time permitting, both will probably brag to some degree about cross-party endorsements.

As part of the ongoing mind games between the two camps, Clinton supporter and billionaire vocal Trump foe Mark Cuban may be in front row; in response, Trump has threatened to seat former Bill Clinton paramour Gennifer Flowers next to the Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank star.

If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!
