Brad Pitt Not Handling Divorce Well? Source Says Actor ‘Is Terrified’ And ‘Is In A Lot Of Pain’

As new details in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie divorce continue to emerge, sources close to Brad say that the 52-year-old actor is struggling to hold it together.

According to an unnamed source for Hollywood Life, Brad Pitt is crying nonstop.

“Brad can’t help but break down into tears thinking about it. He’s been crying a lot, probably more than he ever has. It’s heartbreaking to see this good man be brought down like this.”

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt’s wife of more than two years, filed for divorce on Tuesday after separating from her husband the previous week. Before they were married, Jolie and Pitt had been together for more than a decade, and together, the pair have six children.

It’s the fear of losing those children that is eating Brad up the most, the Hollywood Life source reported. In her filing, Angelina Jolie has requested sole physical custody of the children. Additionally, Jolie requested joint legal custody and is willing to allow Brad visitation rights, according to the filing. She did not request any financial support.

“As bad as losing Angie is, it’s nothing compared to the fear of losing his kids. He’s trying to hold it together but he’s completely terrified she will take them and make it hard on him to see them. Brad’s kids are his life,” the Hollywood Life source said. “They give him a sense of normalcy. He loves helping them change into pajamas and brushing their teeth. Tucking them in at night and having them jump into his bed to cuddle are what he lives for.”

Insider reports from those close to Brangelina paint a different picture. Recent reports have focused on a fight between Brad and his oldest child, 15-year-old Maddox, as the family traveled on their private jet.

On Tuesday, Angelina’s attorney, Robert Offer, told reporters that the decision to divorce was made “for the health of the family.” Insiders have alleged that Brad Pitt’s marijuana and alcohol use had put stress on the family.

And according to an unnamed source for Us Weekly, Brad and Angelina had come close to divorce before, due in part to their different parenting strategies.

“They came so close to this before. They fought a lot of over the years and disagreed about many things.”

Still, according to the Hollywood Life source, Brad Pitt was caught unawares by the filing. In fact, the source said that Pitt believed he and Angelina would be together forever.

“Brad [Pitt] is in a lot of pain. His heartbreak over losing [Angelina Jolie], who he really thought he would grow old with is heartbreaking for sure. She was and still is the love of his life.”

Despite the heartbreak and pain Brad is reportedly dealing with now, he still knows he has to pull it together for his children, the Hollywood Life source said.

“No matter how bad he’s hurting, Brad won’t let himself fall to pieces. He will dust himself off and be strong not because he wants to, but because he has to for the kids. Protecting them is all that he cares about.”

Pitt has been relatively quiet since the divorce news became public. He’s released one statement, asking for the privacy of his children.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
