The India national cricket team faces their counterparts from New Zealand on day one of the First Test match between the two countries. The match will stream live on Thursday when India plays a match that brings them to a historic milestone. The Test will actually be held on Wednesday night in most of the United States due to the time difference.
The match will be Test number 500 for the India cricket team, going back to 1932 when what was then called the “All India” team played a three-day Test match against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

India lost that match by 158 runs. But 499 Test matches and 84 years later, the situation looks very different for the India national side, which currently ranks in second place on the ICC world Test rankings table behind arch-rival Pakistan.
But trailing Pakistan by just 19 points on the ICC table, a winning performance in the three-match Test series against New Zealand could easily elevate India to the world’s top spot.
And against New Zealand, a team that has won only twice on Indian pitches against 13 losses and 16 draws, India appears primed to grab that coveted number one ranking.

Conditions at Green Park in sweltering Kanpur would again appear to favor the devastating India spin attack with cracks already appearing in the arid pitch three days before play was scheduled to commence.
New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson of the visiting squad will be to gain as much information as possible during the first hour of the Test and make the necessary adjustments.
“You do want to go into the matches as educated as you can be to try and apply your plans. That’s where it is important for experience among players to come into it. Bowlers, batters to adjust quickly. You do learn a lot in the first hour of a Test match. It’s important you adapt quickly in those conditions to get the best out of them.”
