Megyn Kelly’s ‘Embeds’ Generates Buzz: What’s The Scoop On The Fox News Star’s Latest Project?

Fox News star Megyn Kelly’s Embeds is generating a lot of buzz as news spreads that the reporter is now tackling a new type of project. Reports indicate she will be producing a new scripted television series that will be streamed via Verizon’s Go90. What is the scoop on the new project?

As Variety details, Megyn Kelly’s Embeds is a political comedy that revolves around embedded journalists who are following a presidential campaign trail. It seems that this will not be a show about politics all that much, despite the description. Rather, the series focuses on the young embedded journalists who are following the campaign trail. It seems that those behind the show are angling to appeal to those who follow politics, but the series will also work for those who are not as avid when it comes to the topic of politics.

Kelly will produce Embeds along with Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael De Luca, and at this point, six half-hour episodes have been ordered. Teasers indicate that viewers will likely see a number of major politicians pop up in cameo roles, and the team behind the show hopes to have the first episode ready to air by Election Day.

Deadline adds that the five young embedded reporters in the series will be finding themselves in over their heads as they follow along with the campaign. They will be having wild adventures throughout their travels that include drugs and sex, and the reporters apparently start to feel a lot of pressure about how their work impacts the election and the future of the country.

Just who will be starring in Kelly’s Embeds? It seems that casting is taking place now, so those who are interested in checking this one out later this year will have to stay tuned for now when it comes to the cast members. While the casting is not in place yet, there are some heavy hitters associated with this one behind the scenes.

The show was created by former CNN correspondent Peter Hamby along with Scott Conroy, the co-author of Sarah Palin’s Sarah from Alaska. The two initially met while covering Palin during the 2008 campaign, and it seems that the idea for Embeds came out of their work on that campaign.

Megyn is still a mainstay at Fox News, at least for now, but that is not her only project. In addition to Embeds, she is developing and producing a show for FX called The Residence, with Dustin Lance Black writing the script. In addition, she scored a massive book deal earlier this year with HarperCollins.

As Mediaite details, Settle for More is due to be released on November 15 and will cover topics such as her family background and the drama that has surrounded her thanks to presidential candidate Donald Trump. A bidding war played out over the book, and while specific numbers have not been released, the reporter is believed to have scored something in the range of at least $5 million for the book.

As for Verizon’s Go90, it first went live about a year ago. It is a mobile video service that was hyped quite a bit by Verizon, but it has yet to necessarily make a major splash. It is available to anybody in the United States, not just Verizon customers, and so far it has been free. Recode notes that a former YouTube executive was brought in to head this effort, and while the service hasn’t generated any major hits as of yet, Megyn Kelly’s Embeds certainly could have what it takes to change that.
