Courteney Cox On Reconciling With Johnny McDaid, Co-Parenting With David Arquette, And Her ‘Horrible’ Plastic Surgery

Courteney Cox has just revealed juicy details about her love life, according to People magazine. The 52-year-old former Friends star bared her soul while speaking to Bear Grylls.

During an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Courteney Cox revealed that she was good friends with her ex-husband David Arquette, whom she divorced in 2010. The actress added that she and Arquette, with whom she shares 12-year-old daughter Coco, are living separate lives but remain friends.

However, Courteney Cox was quick to add that they lack the intimacy that is “so important in a relationship.” While Cox agrees that for a relationship to work both parties need to put at least some effort, she assures that she and Arquette had tried it.

“We’re just really different, too. I’m the polar opposite of him. And that can be great for a lot of things, but I need this kind of real, one-on-one connection.”

Courteney Cox also opened up about her split from the ex-husband, saying that it “wasn’t a dramatic ending.” And while the former Friends actress struggled to describe their breakup, she assured that it was one of the “better ones.”

“We’re good co-parents together.”

Courteney Cox is now dating Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid, who is 12 years younger than the actress. And although the two have had a rather rocky relationship and even called off their engagement last December (but reconciled this March), she explained that it had to do with McDaid being Irish.

“There’s something about… you know, he’s from Ireland. And the way he regards love is precious. We have to treat it in a different way. It’s more special – you coddle it.”

That’s why Courteney Cox failed to regard love the way McDaid does, and their differences arose. And while the actress admits that she has made plenty of mistakes, whether it’s co-dependency or people-pleasing, she didn’t know “how to bring it on.”

But Courteney Cox assures that she has learned a lot and their split made her “a better person” even though it was a brutal breakup. The actress also confirmed that they were back together, but assured that their romance is in “a new context” now.

“It’s just… everything’s new. And we have both really worked on ourselves on the parts that needed the most attention. And it feels really different.”

Courteney Cox recently took to Twitter to pay tribute to Alexis Arquette, the transgender actress and sister to Cox’s ex-husband David Arquette, according to People magazine. The former Friends star wrote that her heart goes out to anyone who was lucky to know the late transgender actress, who unexpectedly died earlier this month.

“We will love and miss you forever.”

Speaking to Bear Grylls, Courteney Cox also opened up about the pressures she endures in the entertainment industry, and in particular about maintaining her looks. The actress also said she had regrets about changing her looks to appear younger.

While Courteney Cox admits that getting older is not “the easiest thing,” she says that she has learned lessons and knows for a fact that nobody can keep up with getting older and trying to chase their youth.

Courteney Cox added that she once tried that, but the results weren’t pleasing, as she sometimes looks at her photos and goes, “Oh god, I look horrible.”

“I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that’s good because it’s not always been my best look. Now I have a new motto, just let it be.”
