George Clooney Wants Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie To Save Their Marriage

George Clooney is hoping Brad Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie, can avoid divorce.

Although papers have already been filed to end their marriage, the actor is hopeful that his longtime friend can make things work for the sake of their family, including their six children, Maddox, 14, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, eight.

“Brad is leaning on [George Clooney] for support right now,” a source told Hollywood Life on September 20. “They are like brothers.”

“[George Clooney] doesn’t want to see this happening,” the insider continued. “He’s been advising Brad to do whatever he can to save the marriage.”

Pitt and Jolie have been married for just two years.

On the set of 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, when Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston, he and Jolie fell in love. Now, over 10 years later, Pitt has been accused of doing the same thing to Jolie with his Allied co-star, Marion Cotillard. Still, despite the rumors, George Clooney is said to be confident that his friend and his wife will be able to sort through their marital troubles if they work hard.

“[George Clooney] thinks their marriage can be saved,” the source explained.

Although George Clooney is confident in a reunion between Pitt and Jolie, things between them appear to be quite strained and in Jolie’s divorce documents, she requested full physical custody of their children with Pitt having no physical custody of the children whatsoever. Instead, revealed TMZ, Jolie requested Pitt have nothing more than visitation with their sons and daughters.

As for why Jolie would request full custody of the children, the TMZ report claimed she felt Pitt was suffering from an anger problem and claimed he drinks too much alcohol and smokes too much marijuana. Meanwhile, sources close to Pitt slammed the allegations as “malicious.”

“He’s a loving and devoted father who has never and would never put his children in any dangerous situation,” the sources stated.

George Clooney first learned of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s impending divorce while at the United Nations on Tuesday.

“What happened?” Clooney asked CNN‘s Richard Roth.

Then, after being informed of Jolie’s filing on Monday, George Clooney told Roth, “I didn’t know that. Wow.”

“I feel very sorry then,” George Clooney continued. “That’s a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It’s an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. This is the first I’ve heard of it.”

Pitt and Jolie have been married since August 23, 2014. At that time, after obtaining a marriage license in Los Angeles, the couple tied the knot at their home in France, Chateau Miraval, surrounded by their six children, all of whom had roles in the ceremony.

According to CNN, George Clooney was visiting the United Nations on Tuesday to attend a roundtable with President Obama on the refugee crisis.

Although George Clooney did address Pitt and Jolie’s split, he did not say anything about the ongoing rumors regarding Pitt’s alleged on-set encounter with his Allied co-star, Marion Cotillard.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s friendship began on the set of Ocean’s Eleven in 2001 and has continued on in the years since. The two men have also continued to work together in movies including Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’sThirteen. In addition, the friends starred alongside one another in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Burn After Reading.
