Former NFL Players Looking For Glory In MMA

Las Vegas, NV (AHN) – Following the boon of Mixed Martial Arts in the eyes of the mainstream public, many average NFL players are looking to put their outstanding physical conditioning to good use.
With big money contracts, NFL players aren’t the only ones giving MMA a second glance.
Former baseball great Jose Canseco pursued a career in professional fighting in Dream 9, though going down 1:19 in the first round to Hong Man Choi.
Ever since Brock Lesnar made the switch from professional wrestling to the Minnesota Vikings, then to Mixed Martial Arts after being cut, the links between the two sports have been visible and easy to see.
Other average NFL names are looking to make it big in MMA, including Marcus Jones, Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub and Wes Shivers.
These NFL players make up part of the cast of Ultimate Fighter 10, and will complete for a UFC contract.
Each of these former NFL players were back-ups who did not have the talent or the chance to make it into a solid starting role. Schaub was a member of the Bills practice squad and never made it further.
