‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results Week 2: Who Went Home Tonight? After A Shocking Elimination, 12 Couples Move One Step Closer To Winning The ‘DWTS’ Mirrorball Trophy

Who was voted off Dancing with the Stars on Week 2? The first elimination of Season 23 took place on Tuesday night, with one celebrity leaving and 12 couples moving on to the third week of competition.

According to ABC, tonight’s elimination will be based on a combination of judges’ scores and votes from fans for the performances that took place on Week 1 (premiere night – September 12) and Week 2 (TV Night — September 19).

Which four couples were in jeopardy tonight and who was voted off the show on Tuesday night? Here’s what happened during the first live results show of the season including some predictions about the couples who may make it to the finals this season.

Before host Tom Bergeron announced the names of the couples who were in jeopardy on Tuesday night, pros Derek, Cheryl, and Maks put on a special performance for fans.

The celebs and their pro dance partners also did a repeat performance of their dances from Monday night’s “TV Night” show, and viewers got to a sneak peek at what’s to come on Week 3.

After last night’s performances, Buddy TV‘s John Kubicek predicted that Maureen McCormick, Jake T. Austin, and Rick Perry would be in jeopardy on the September 20 results show. Perhaps Kubicek wasn’t aware, but a fourth couple would be in jeopardy tonight and that surprised many viewers.

Kubicek went on to say that Perry, the former Governor of Texas, is “obviously the worst dancer” and predicted that he will go home at the end of the night. After spending two weeks at the bottom of the leaderboard, going home sounds inevitable, but everyone was in for a shocker.

There has also been some buzz among fans that Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte would leave the show first due to a combination of lackluster performances and diminished support from fans after the Rio Olympics robbery scandal.

Shocking elimination?

It’s not a shocker, but it’s an unexpected twist. Let’s just say fans who haven’t heard who was eliminated tonight are in for a bit of a surprise if they were counting on one of the lowest-ranking celebs to leave. At least one of the celebrities who was rumored to be in jeopardy was named safe and will move on to Week 3.

Here are the results of the first elimination of Dancing with the Stars Season 23.

Rick Perry, Jake T. Austin, and Maureen McCormick were all bottom-ranking celebrities during both Weeks 1 and 2. Did they all end up in jeopardy?

Who’s Safe and Who’s In Jeopardy?

Shortly before the end of Tuesday night’s show, host Tom Bergeron named the couples who were safe and those who were in jeopardy.

  • Safe: Laurie and Val, Rick and Emma, Marilu and Derek, Babyface and Allison, Calvin and Lindsay, Vanilla Ice and Witney, James and Sharna, Terra and Sasha, Jana and Gleb.
  • In Jeopardy: Maureen and Artem, Ryan and Cheryl, Jake and Jenna, Amber and Maks

With minutes to go before Tuesday night’s results show ended, Tom Bergeron faced the four couples who were in jeopardy. It surprised many fans that Rick Perry was safe and not named as one of the four couples who were in jeopardy, and it was equally surprising to see Amber and Maks in jeopardy after the second week of competition.

Who went home on Week 2?

Finally, the name of the couple who would not make it another week was revealed.

Jake and Jenna were eliminated on Tuesday night. Not a huge surprise, but did you expect them to leave first or were you convinced that Rick Perry or Ryan Lochte would leave?

Next week Dancing with the Stars returns for a one-hour special at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, right before the first presidential debate.
