Britney Spears Responds To Her Fans’ Goddess Worship

It might be said that Britney Spears has successfully dethroned Madonna as the Queen of Pop and even with a drain on album sales in recent years, Britney has still maintained a dominating presence of the pop music industry. That being said, it does seem as though Spears’ fans, who might be more aptly referred to as disciples, are taking things a bit too far lately. Refusing to settle for something as meager as hero worship, Britney’s devotees have gone the extra mile with some old fashioned goddess worship, complete with new nicknames for the “…Baby, One More Time” superstar.

Glory Artist Britney Spears Reacts To Her Fans’ Goddess Worship

The title of the newly released Britney Spears album, Glory, may hold subtle connotations to religious faith, but that’s not to say Ms. Spears ever expected to be worshiped as a deity and, as she tells E! News, Britney is more than a little uncomfortable with the whole idea of being elevated up to that level. Fans have begun referring to Britney as “Godney” or “The Holy Spearit,” but the Glory artist is left feeling as uncomfortable with the new nicknames as she is flattered.

“That’s just how the fans are – and I don’t want to let them down,” Spears says of the new trend. “At the end of the day, we’re all human and we all make mistakes. It’s really flattering, but I don’t know if I can set my bar that high. I’m sure a lot of them have almost felt like they’ve grown up with me.”

While she does understand the way in which fans show their love for her, Britney says she tries not to pay too much attention to what’s being said. Ms. Spears feels that letting the adoration from her fans go to her head would be a recipe for disaster. Instead, Britney prefers to give everything she has into her live performances, so those devoted fans will continue to feel appreciated.

“I love what I do and I think that helps because it speaks for itself when I perform,” added Britney.

Britney Spears Wows Everyone, Including Meghan Trainor, With “Me Too” Dance

The internet has gone wild over Britney Spears’ new Instagram share, a video of herself dancing to Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” and, as Entertainment Tonight reveals, even Trainor herself has been floored by the performance. The video shows just a portion of Spears’ dancing and whipping her hair and shorts around in a wild display, as “Me Too” guides her rhythm, giving fans of Britney’s rock hard physique a good show.

“It’s been a while since I’ve cut loose,” 34-year-old Spears captioned the video.

Of course, Spears’ Instagram post was a big hit with her fans and deservedly so, but it was also a big boost for Meghan and her own followers when the “Me Too” artist shared Spears’ video with her own followers.

“When all your dreams come true,” Meghan wrote in the caption.

Naturally, Trainor was honored to learn that Britney had featured one of her songs in the video. That would be a big boost for any artist. In this case, however, it was double humbling for Meghan, because she has recently shared that she has always been a big fan of Spears and that Brit had been an influence on much of the music on her latest album.

Meghan says she has always been a big fan of pop music from the late 90s and early 00s, revealing that she was inspired by Britney Spears, as soon as she debuted with her first song, “…Baby, One More Time,” in 1998.
