When Will ‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6 Be On Netflix?

Netflix will make Once Upon a Time Season 6 available in some countries when it debuts on September 25, but what about Once Upon a Time Season 6 in the U.S.? When will that be available on Netflix?

It may seem like a premature question, but there is a reason for it coming up now. There will be some territories that will get Once Upon a Time Season 6 around 24 hours after the air date in the United States. This is because the show doesn’t get aired in these territories, and Netflix and ABC are trying to see if this boosts the ratings.

This agreement is very similar to the way The 100 is released on Netflix Canada the day after the air date on the CW network in the United States. Netflix U.K. is one of the lucky territories to get Once Upon a Time after it airs in the United States. This agreement started back in Season 3 because Channel 5 in the U.K. stopped licensing the show. It is possible that the U.K. will get The Originals streaming straight away on Netflix since E4 has dropped it.

As for the rest of the world, fans will need to wait for OUAT Season 6 on Netflix. The premiere of the season will air on September 25 (at the same time Once Upon a Time Season 5 is released in the areas where it isn’t already on Netflix) and will continue for the fall 2016 series.

Unlike Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and some other ABC shows, Netflix doesn’t have the rights to stream Once Upon a Time 30 days after the season finale. In 2016, Netflix United States was able to stream the full season in August, a month before the release of the new season. The show does well with DVD and Blu-ray sales, and ABC may fear that the sales will drop if the show is available for streaming. The network allows Netflix to stream the show 30 days before the next season premiere.

If the show is renewed for a seventh season, then Once Upon a Time will likely be available on Netflix from the premiere date. At the moment, the chances of renewal are slim. The viewing figures dropped by a third during Once Upon a Time Season 5, according to PremiereDate.TV. The figures are extremely low for ABC, with Season 5 averaging 4.4 million views. Season 4 managed 9 million views!

It could be possible that another network or a streaming service will pick up OUAT in the future. This has happened with both Supergirl and Nashville to keep them going. It is also possible that the actors will decide that they have had a good run with six seasons and decide to call it a day on the program.

There is hope from the producers that the return of the Evil Queen will get viewers drawn back in again. It was her return that created the most hype around the Season 5 finale. A big jump will be needed to see the show getting a definite renewal. This renewal may have only been granted to help tie up loose ends and conclude the story.

While Once Upon a Time Season 6 premieres on ABC on Sunday, September 25, the show is going a recap episode just before it at 7/8c. This episode will include interviews and commentaries from the executive producers, with questions answered and reminders of the last five years.

Don’t forget to tune in for Once Upon a Time Season 6 on September 25. Catch it on Netflix U.K. and other territories shortly after.
