Fall TV 2016: Which Shows Return This Week?


The start of fall TV 2016 is finally here! It seems to have taken forever since the season finales back in April and May, but you don’t have too long to wait anymore. Many of the shows are returning tonight!

Not all the best shows will return this week, but there is a good amount to get ready for. Whether you enjoy comedy, crime, or even fantasy, there will be something for you. Here’s a look at the shows returning this week from September 19, 2016.

Monday, September 19, 2016

Monday will see the return of The Big Bang Theory, with the premiere of Season 10 at 8 p.m. on CBS, as CBS had reminded fans earlier this month. Dancing With the Stars airs at the same time on ABC, while Fox debuts the Season 3 premiere of Gotham and The Voice Season 11 starts on NBC with new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys.

Lucifer Season 2 starts on Fox at 9 p.m., while Major Crimes continues an hour later on TNT.

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Tuesday will kick off with Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 4 on Fox at 8 p.m., along with NCIS Season 14 on CBS as the same time. This will be the first episode without Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo.

The Voice will continue at 8 p.m. on NBC, and Dancing With the Stars has a special night for ABC with the first eliminations.

New Girl Season 6 is on at 8:30 p.m. on Fox, and then CBS will premiere the pilot episode of Weatherly’s new TV show, Bull, at 9 p.m. Scream Queens Season 2 will also be on Fox at the same time as Bull.

NCIS: New Orleans takes the 10 p.m. slot on CBS with the premiere of Season 3, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 4 premieres on ABC at the same time. NBC premieres the pilot episode of This Is Us at the same time.

The Goldberg returns for a fourth year at 8 p.m. on ABC, followed by Speechless’ pilot episode at 8:30 p.m. Modern Family and Black-ish follow in the next two half hour slots.

Fox airs the pilot episode of Lethal Weapon at 8 p.m., following by firm favorite Empire Season 3 at 9 p.m. Meanwhile, CBS debuts Survivor Season 33 at 8 p.m.! The Big Brother Season 18 finale airs at 9:30 p.m.

NBC airs the premieres of Law & Order: SVU Season 18 and Chicago P.D. Season 4 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. respectively.

For Netflix fans, Easy hits the service at 3 a.m.

For those watching live TV or recording programs, Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 debuts on ABC at 8 p.m., followed by Shonda Rhimes’ new program Notorious at 9 p.m. Season 3 of How to Get Away With Murder premiere. Scandal won’t return until later in the year due to Kerry Washington’s pregnancy putting filming behind.

Fox airs the premiere of Rosewood Season 2 at 8 p.m. on Fox, with Pitch following with its pilot episode an hour later.

Superstore Season 2 and The Good Place Season 1 air on NBC from 8 p.m., followed by Chicago Med returning for its second season an hour later. The Blacklist follows at 10 p.m. with the Season 4 premiere in the fall TV 2016 schedule.

Amazon and Netflix both have shows available with Transparent Season 3 and Longmire Season 5 respectively.

Hell’s Kitchen returns for its 16th season at 8 p.m. on Fox, followed by the new series The Exorcist at 9 p.m.

ABC premieres Last Man Standing Season 8 at 8 p.m., followed by Dr. Ken Season 8 a half hour later. Shark Tank Season 8 then premieres on the network at 9 p.m.

At 8 p.m. on CBS, MacGyver airs its premiere episode of the series. Hawaii Five-O Season 7 follows at 9 p.m., and then Blue Bloods Season 7 at 10 p.m.

New series Van Helsing premieres on Syfy at 10 p.m.

Once Upon a Time Season 6 is back with the fall TV scheduling at 8 p.m. on ABC. Secrets and Lies Season 2 follows at 9 p.m. Quantico is back with Season 2 at 10 p.m.

Fox has The Simpsons Season 28 premiering with Springfield burning to the ground at 8 p.m., followed by new series Sons of Zorn a half hour later. Stick with Fox for the 9-10 p.m. slot with Family Guy Season 14 and Last Man on Earth Season 3 both airing.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8 premieres on CBS at 8 p.m., and Starz premieres Season 3 of Power at 9 p.m.
