Is Selena Gomez Quitting Music After Canceling Her Tour Due To Lupus Struggles?

Could Selena Gomez be preparing to retire after canceling her “Revival World Tour” last month?

Following Selena Gomez’s announcement of the end of her tour, rumors have been swirling in regard to what the future may hold for the singer, and while one report claimed that she is working on new music now, another suggests that she may permanently end her music career.

On September 17, a report surfaced claiming that as Selena Gomez tends to her health concerns, she is continuing to focus on her music and channeling her energy into new songs.

“Her health and privacy is her top priority right now so she has been careful about sharing her whereabouts with anyone,” a source close to Selena Gomez told Hollywood Life. “She has been missing her fans and performing her music and hopes to get back on the road soon. Selena’s also been channeling her creative energy in writing lyrics and new music so she will be prepared for the studio when she feels well enough to get back to work.”

Selena Gomez announced she was ending her “Revival World Tour” at the end of August with a statement to People Magazine, which explained that her struggles with Lupus resulted in issues with her mental health. As she revealed in her statement, Selena Gomez had been faced with panic attacks, depression and anxiety as she traveled the world.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez explained to the magazine. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

Selena Gomez went on to tell fans that she wanted to be proactive and had decided that in order to maintain her health and happiness, she would be taking some time off. She also thanked fans for their support throughout her struggles and insisted that she needed to address her struggles head-on in order to be her best.

Although rumors have swirled claiming Selena Gomez is actually in rehab to address an addiction to drugs, a source told People Magazine that was not the case and insisted her struggles were only mental.

“[Selena Gomez] decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness and didn’t want to leave any promoters at bay,” the source revealed. “She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”

In another report, shared by Celebrity Dirty Laundry, it was noted that Selena Gomez could be walking away from music all together.

“Selena Gomez’s career might be coming to an end,” the outlet revealed to readers on September 17. “In fact, there’s new speculation that Selena Gomez’s retirement might be here already as the singer’s lupus and stress over her Justin Bieber breakup is forcing her to withdraw from the limelight.”

Selena Gomez and her ex-boyfriend were involved in a highly-publicized feud on Instagram in mid-August around the time of her final “Revival World Tour” performance in Auckland, New Zealand, and during their fight, they both accused one another of cheating.

Following the dispute, Selena Gomez returned to social media were she apologized for her outburst. Meanwhile, Bieber went radio silent on Instagram and ultimately chose to delete his account.
