WWE News: Will Brock Lesnar Fight The Rock At ‘Clash Of Champions’?

The latest WWE news suggests that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is determined to make a huge comeback in the wrestling world. Not content with being the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, the wrestling legend wants to return to the ring for at least one more fight — and he wants his opponent to be Brock Lesnar at the upcoming Clash of Champions fight!

That’s according to TGD, whose latest WWE news suggests that this fight is welcomed by the former UFC fighter, too. He believes that facing off against The Rock would prove to be one of the biggest matches in WWE history, and he welcomes the opportunity if given the chance to fight him at Clash of Champions.

As is typical for this type of WWE news, however, Lesnar’s “advocate” Paul Heyman teased that it probably won’t happen because The Rock is too afraid to face Lesnar in the ring.

“Notice how The Rock picks fights with Bray Wyatt, or fights with Rusev and John Cena? Notice how The Rock doesn’t pick a fight with Brock Lesnar? Is Brock Lesnar ready for The Rock? Is The Rock ready for Brock?”

Other WWE news about Brock Lesnar comes to us courtesy of OneIndia, who are reporting in today’s WWE news roundup that Daniel Bryan — of all people — wants to fight Lesnar before he fully retires from the ring. This suggests that, despite his doctors refusing to give him formal clearance to return to the ring, Bryan wants to leave the sport in a blaze of glory (or ignobility). Bryan told the site that he’s more interested in proving how brave he is than actually being able to walk after the fight is over.

“What I really wanted was, I wanted a match with Brock Lesnar, that was my thing. But I didn’t want to go into the match with Brock Lesnar (having) that be the first time I ever take a German suplex [following] my neck surgery. So, I wrestled Luke Harper and he German suplexed me on my head and everybody was like, ‘Oh my gosh, why did you do that?!’ It’s because I have this mentality of, ‘I don’t want to go in there against Brock knowing he’s probably going to give me one zillion German suplexes and not having taken a German suplex before and not having known that my neck was going to be ok.'”

Finally, according to Sportskeeda, the WWE news about The Rock and Lesnar facing off at Clash of Champions is a welcome one. The last time the two fighters faced off in the ring was in 2002 when Lesnar defeated The Rock to become the youngest Undisputed WWE Champion in history. At the time, Lesnar was only with the company for four months and controversy was far from him.

Initially, as well, “The Rock vs. Brock Round 2” was due to happen at Wrestlemania 30. Though it’s unclear as to why that didn’t happen, it was clearly a missed opportunity, one that the WWE now wants to take advantage of this with their Clash of Champions fight.

The problem, however, is that this bit of WWE news would upset the apple cart in terms of a main event fight. Seeing as how it’s all but confirmed that the Clash of Champions main event will, rightly, be The Undertaker’s last-ever match with the company (where he’ll be facing off against John Cena), this fight of “The Rock vs. Brock 2” won’t get the attention it deserves if it takes place at Clash of Champions.
