Brad Paisley Pranks Darius Rucker During Grand Ole Opry Performance

Darius Rucker received quite the surprise on Tuesday night when fellow country singer Brad Paisley pranked the singer during Rucker’s Grand Ole Opry performance.

Part way through his final act on Tuesday, the announcer asked Rucker if he would be willing to take some questions from the audience.

Opry manager Pete Fisher first introduced two female fans who asked Rucker questions and then he pointed to a man in a white hat. As the man stood up, audience members immediately recognized him as Brad Paisley, and they broke out into applause.

Paisley then began his line of questioning, first asking Darius Rucker:

“I have two questions. One, are you still the worst poker player in the world?”

To which Darius Rucker admitted he was a “loser.”

Paisley then quickly added:

“And two. Would you like to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry?”

Rucker looked on in disbelief as Brad Paisley walked up onto the stage and said:

“Welcome him home, everyone.”

Rucker told his fans:

“You guys are here for one of the most special nights of my life. Thank you for sharing it with me.”

Darius Rucker is the first African-American country singer to be welcomed into the Grand Ole Opry since Charley Pride in 1993. The newest member of the Opry will be inducted during the GAC’s Noteworthy at the Opry segment of the radio show on October 16.

Do you think the success of his breakout country album is worthy of a spot among the industries biggest heavyweights?
