‘Grey’s’ Actor Eric Dane Suing Rocker-Neighbor Billy Corgan For Nearly Killing His Wife

Did you know that Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane is neighbors with The Smashing Pumpkins front-man Billy Corgan? They are, but there’s reportedly no love lost between the two after Corgan almost killed Dane’s pregnant wife with a falling tree.

You could call “melodrama” on this one, but that’s exactly what a lawsuit filed from Dane against Corgan is all about, reports TMZ. Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart filed the suit in LA County Superior Court, claiming that a tree from Corgan’s property crashed through the couple’s Beverly Hills home during a severe storm last year, flooding the house and breaking a power line.

Dane says that Gayheart, who was nine months pregnant at the time, had to quickly evacuate the flooding home, dodging live electrical wires on her way out.

Dane and family escaped the home, but the actor reportedly chose to launch the legal proceedings claiming that Corgan had been warned about the dangers of his eucalyptus trees, according to MSN.

Corgan has called the allegations “patently untrue,” insisting that he had never been warned about his trees and didn’t realize the danger until it was too late.

“I was horrified when I learned about the tree falling during what was a massive storm, a storm with winds strong enough to uproot a 50 ft tree by its base! Thankfully no one was injured,” Corgan said.

The rocker also said that he had an expert come in immediately to remove any other dangerous trees from his property. He says that Dane’s lawsuit is “a shame … because [Eric and Rebecca] are nice people.”

Dane and Gayheart are suing for nuisance, negligence, and injunctive relief. Damages demanded are unknown.
