Will ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Season 4 Include Matt Brown Or Billy Brown?

Many are debating whether there will be a Season 4 for Alaskan Bush People. Given the history of the show, we may not know the final decision on that until October, but there have been reports of filming, so it’s probably going to happen. What is not so clear at this point is who will be involved in Season 4 and to what extent they will be involved. There are a variety of views about whether Matt Brown will appear in Alaskan Bush People when it returns and a wide range of views on whether or not he should appear. But what about patriarch Billy Brown? He is dealing with some issues of his own. Will they keep him out of the next season of ABP? It’s an interesting question to consider, one that not many Alaskan Bush People fans have probably thought about.

There has been a lot of talk about the possibility that Matt Brown may not return for Season 4 of Alaskan Bush People because of his acknowledged struggle with alcohol. There are a few reasons this could happen. I could happen because it’s in Matt’s best interest. It isn’t possible to eliminate only the abused substance from your life. To beat their problem, an abuser has to examine every part of their life and decide who and what is contributing in some way to their addiction. Obviously, for Matt Brown, this would mean taking a look at his participation in Alaskan Bush People as well as his role within his family. Giving him time away from both may help him gain some perspective about the role of Alaskan Bush People in his life and the relationship between him and his family in his life of sobriety.

Some fans argue that Matt Brown may not appear in Season 4 of Alaskan Bush People because, if he did appear on the show, his alcohol problem could not be ignored and would run counter to the image of the Brown family that Discovery wants to portray. Alaskan Bush People is supposed to be about the Brown family building a home in the Alaskan wilderness. Working Matt’s problem into the series would be a distraction from that image. Discovery is probably going to receive some criticism whether they include Matt’s new journey in the next season of ABP or not. Some will say it shouldn’t be part of the show because it’s a very personal journey. Some will say that they should because fans care so much about him and his future and because it wouldn’t be fair to introduce his problem in last year’s season of Alaskan Bush People and then leave it out of Season 4.

A possibility for Season 4 of Alaskan Bush People that has not been discussed, however, is that patriarch Billy Brown may not be included. He previously travelled to Seattle for treatment for his seizures. This, in addition to other times in which they are known to have been in Seattle, has led some viewers to wonder if the Alaskan Bush People actually live there. During their recent legal issue in which it was found that Brown family members had lied about their residency to receive oil dividends from the state of Alaska, we learned that the family actually testified to the court via a phone call from Seattle. And we learned that during most of the time in question, 2009 to 2012, Billy Brown lived in Seattle promoting his book. To our knowledge, Billy’s medical issues are ongoing, so it’s not a big leap to say that it’s possible he would need to spend more time in the Washington city for treatment.
