The 2016 NCAA football season is heading into Week 3, and there are a lot of games on the schedule that should give fans the entertainment that they are looking for. Whether that be two ranked teams going head-to-head with playoff implications or simply an old-fashioned upset alert, this week has everything.
It is never too early to begin making predictions for the upcoming week of college football action.
We have previously taken a look at five potential upsets here at the Inquisitr and have also ranked who the top five teams in the Big Ten football conference are at this stage of the season. Both of those articles will help fans get prepared for the upcoming slate of games.
Needless to say, it will be intriguing to see what ends up happening this week across the nation. There are a few high-profile teams going up against each other, and we could see a team lose their playoff hopes this early in the season.

Florida State Will Blow the Louisville Cardinals Out
That’s right, one of the most anticipated games of the weekend will end up being a blowout. Deondre Francois will lead the Florida State Seminoles past the Louisville Cardinals in blowout fashion. Many believe that the Seminoles could be in trouble, but they will end up handling business in convincing fashion.
Appalachian State Will Upset the No. 25 Ranked Miami Hurricanes
One upset that we are going to make a bold prediction is the Appalachian State Mountaineers taking out Mark Richt and the Miami Hurricanes. Appalachian State has a track record of upsets, and they will add another to their resume. It should be a good game, but the Mountaineers will find a way to shock the nation once again.
Chad Kelly Will Power the Ole Miss Rebels Past the Alabama Crimson Tide
Another major matchup this week has the No. 19 ranked Ole Miss Rebels hosting the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Chad Kelly and company will find a way to knock the Crimson Tide off for the third season in a row. It won’t be an easy win, but Ole Miss will make the necessary plays down the stretch of the game to send Nick Saban back home with his first loss of the season.
No. 18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Will Defeat the No. 12 Michigan State Spartans
Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame football team may not have a shot at the National Championship according to the media, but they will knock off the Michigan State Spartans this week. It isn’t going to be easy, but the Fighting Irish offense will power their way to a victory. Mark Dantonio’s team will put up a fight, but it won’t be enough when everything is said and done.
The California Golden Bears Will Knock Off the No. 11 Texas Longhorns
As great as the Texas Longhorns’ return to relevance has been for college football, the California Golden Bears will put an end to their surge. California may not be ranked, but they are a team to keep an eye on as the season progresses. Texas will head into Golden Bear territory and come out with a 2-1 record.
Expect to see a lot of close games and a lot of entertainment for college football fans. There are a lot of other games that could end up being worthy of the “bold predictions” list, but there are too many to name.
