Jimmy Fallon Ruffles Trump’s Hair: Donald Trump Makes A Playful Appearance On ‘The Tonight Show’

Viewers of The Tonight Show were given an opportunity to see a different side to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last night. The typically serious contender made an appearance on the late-night talk show and even allowed host Jimmy Fallon to completely mess up his hair. The appearance is being claimed as an attempt by the Trump campaign to soften the candidate’s image going into November’s election, introducing viewers to a very different side of Donald Trump.

According to TIME, Donald Trump sat patiently whilst host Jimmy Fallon ran his fingers through Trump’s golden hair, which has been a staple of this campaign. Fallon quickly picked up the pace until he was completely messing up Donald Trump’s hair on live television. Surprisingly, Trump didn’t appear to mind all that much, joining in on the joke. Fallon said he wanted to take the opportunity to mess up Trump’s hair, as the guest could be commander-in-chief when he next visits the show.

That being said, the move by Fallon has attracted a good deal of criticism. According to the Telegraph, Fallon has been accused of “showering a racist with love” and “humanising a monster”, following the light-hearted interview. Viewers of the show weren’t all too pleased that Fallon appeared to be pandering to Trump during the interview.

The largely jocular appearance also saw host Jimmy Fallon joking with Trump about his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. Fallon joked that Clinton could be featured in Women’s Health magazine, following her recent pneumonia, a joke that wasn’t met with much applaud from viewers of the show. Many viewers took to Twitter to express their distaste in Fallon’s interview with Trump, claiming that they’d boycott the show because of Fallon’s friendly antics with the controversial Republican candidate.

Viewers were similarly displeased to see Fallon joking about Hillary Clinton’s pneumonia. The Democratic candidate has been off the campaign trail for the past few days following the diagnosis and whilst Fallon was expected to show compassion towards Trump’s rival, he appeared to fuel speculation that there’s something more to Clinton’s health story.

What If Hillary Clinton Did Have A Seizure? Who Becomes The Democratic Candidate If Clinton Drops Out?

The news comes as Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton heads back onto the campaign trail, with the support of a number of high-profile figures, including President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. However, Clinton also appears to be picking up support from politicians overseas too.

During his five-day tour of North America, London Mayor Sadiq Khan attacked Donald Trump and appeared to endorse Hillary Clinton. The recently elected Mayor of London and prominent figure in the United Kingdom’s Labour Party claimed Donald Trump was “playing into the hands of Daesh.” Khan, a Muslim himself, attacked anti-Muslim views and policies, claiming that politicians across the globe needed to build bridges and not walls. In opposing Donald Trump’s candidacy, Sadiq Khan appeared to endorse his rival, Hillary Clinton.

That aforementioned interview didn’t see Jimmy Fallon go completely easy on Donald Trump, though. In one of the interview’s harder hitting moments, Fallon showed Trump a picture of his childhood home, which is currently for sale, and asked him if he had any fond memories of growing up there. The question appeared to bring a tear to Donald Trump’s eye for a brief moment, however, he quickly rebutted by claiming that he had plans to buy the house, in true Donald Trump style.
