Calvin Harris Regrets His Tweets About Taylor Swift, Explains Why He ‘Snapped’

Calvin Harris has finally opened up about his split from Taylor Swift, according to Us Magazine. The news comes just several days after it was announced Swift broke up with her new (now-ex) boyfriend, Tom Hiddleston.

In his honest interview with British GQ, Calvin Harris said that it felt as if his split from the “Bad Blood” singer was more heavily publicized than their relationship itself.

“It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly.”

Calvin Harris spoke to GQ as part of being featured at its 2016 Men of the Year Awards. The 32-year-old DJ and producer admitted that when he and Swift were together, they did their best not to let the media make a circus out of their relationship.

And Swift respected Calvin Harris’ feelings in that sense, the DJ and producer added. Harris and Swift ended their relationship in June after more than a year of dating. In fact, in March of this year, the former couple had the cutest one-year anniversary celebration ever. And in the eyes of their fans, they looked like the happiest couple ever.

Less than two weeks after breaking up with Calvin Harris, Swift went public with her romance with Thor actor Tom Hiddleston. But their relationship didn’t last long, and it took them less than three months to realize they don’t belong together.

Calvin Harris admitted that he was the one who called it quits, and three months after the breakup, he doesn’t regret it, saying that it was “the wrong situation” for both of them.

“It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended…”

And while their split was amicable and sweet at first, with Calvin Harris tweeting that they still had “a huge amount of love and respect” for one another, it wasn’t long before he started throwing mud at his ex-girlfriend.

The reason for Calvin Harris’s backlash was that Swift wanted to claim all the credit for his summer hit “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna. He said back then that his ex-girlfriend wanted to make him look bad, according to Billboard.

“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.”

But now in hindsight, Calvin Harris regrets losing his temper on Swift and says he snapped. The DJ-producer admitted that it was “completely the wrong instinct.”

“I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled.”

Calvin Harris explained his behavior by saying he felt like things were “piling on top of” him, and that was the reason why he snapped.

“I’m not good at being a celebrity, but when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure.”

But Calvin Harris was quick to add that he is a positive guy and that it took him a minute to realize that “none of that matters.” The interview was published just a few days before Swift ended her relationship with Tom Hiddleston, which is why it’s still unclear what Harris’s reaction to the news would be.

But a source close to Swift and Hiddleston told Us Magazine that the Thor star wanted their romance to be more public than she was “comfortable” with.

“Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection, but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”

The source also added that they will remain on friendly terms and that they still get along great, but they just can’t see how their romance can work out at this stage.
