We Watched The ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Trailer And We Have Some Questions
The first trailer for Fifty Shades Darker is here, and it has left fans feeling a little mystified.
The Fifty Shades of Grey sequel is supposed to pick up with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) taking their relationship to another level. Instead, the confusing trailer led to more questions than answers.
For starters, Fusion reports that the trailer shows Christian taking Ana to a mysterious masked event. It looks like it’s some kind of Eyes Wide Shut orgy, except a kid holding a teddy bear can be seen in the background at one point.
Is this a charity event or an orgy? Or a weird in-between benefit thing?
The trailer’s only sexy moment happened in a gigantic shower.
While the scene is passionate and sexy, it’s unclear why Ana and Christian didn’t take their clothes off before taking a shower.
Will Fifty Shades Darker only include fully clothed sex scenes? Or is the only sex scene they could get away with showing in the trailer?
Also, why is that shower so large?
It seems like a lot of wasted space.
According to GQ, the trailer lacks good sex locations (besides the shower). Where else are Christian and Ana going to get their kink on? In the helicopter?
Further, is Fifty Shades Darker actually going to include some real BDSM equipment?
The first film lacked any real kink equipment, and the trailer isn’t promising in that department.

There were also a lot of new characters in the trailer that were not properly introduced.
Who are these people and what are they doing?
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, will Dornan go full frontal?
The trailer shows a shirtless Dornan in several scenes – including a hot exercise clip – but doesn’t even hint at the actor bearing it all.
Even if Dornan didn’t go full frontal, teasing it would have been a great promotion.
The trailer may have left fans with a lot of questions, but there are a few things we know for sure about Fifty Shades Darker.
For one, People is reporting that the sequel will feature Ana starting a career at a publishing company in Seattle. This is where Ana meets one of the main villains of the movie, Jack Hyde, who is also featured in the trailer.
While Ana doesn’t want any more secrets to come between her and Christian, a few of former BDSM flames will pop up in the movie.
This includes Mrs. Robinson (Kim Basinger), who is determined to tear Christian and Ana apart.
This isn’t Basinger’s first foray in a kinky film. The actress played in the 1986 movie, 9 1/2 Weeks with Mickey Rourke.
Apart from Basinger, Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) will be playing Boyce Fox, while Bella Heathcote is portraying Christian’s ex-submissive partner Leila.
Eric Johnson (The Knick) is playing Jack Hyde, and Hannibal’s Hugh Dancy will star alongside Dornan as Christian’s therapist, Dr. John Flynn.
If the trailer offered any clues about what to expect in the movie, then fans are in store for another round of good music.
Miguel performed a slowed-down rendition of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” for the trailer, and some of 2017’s hottest tracks will likely be included in the movie.
As fans will recall, one of Fifty Shades of Grey’s strengths was its selection in music.
Not only did The Weeknd gain an Oscar nomination for “Earned It” in the original film, but Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” received a Grammy nod.
An official music list has not been released for the film.
