Sharon Osbourne Comes Clean About Her Mental Breakdown

The last anyone heard of Sharon Osbourne, she was trying to work things out with husband, Ozzy Osbourne. Seemingly overnight, Sharon was gone, shying away from the media and equally absent from her public appearances, leaving her fans to wonder what had happened and even leaving some to consider that Ms. Osbourne was physically ill. While Sharon hasn’t suffered a physical ailment, she has been ill and, as it turns out, Ozzy did the best thing possible for his wife. He checked her into a hospital.

The Talk‘s Sharon Osbourne Says She Gave Up On Life

Now that she’s feeling more like herself, Sharon Osbourne feels more able to talk about her mental breakdown and, as People details Sharon’s experience, it seems clear that The Talk co-host was more affected by the stresses in her life than anyone had previously realized. She confesses that she had given up on life, finding it difficult to deal with the problems in her life.

“At a very low point in my life, I was very frightened about what was going on with me mentally and the thoughts that were going into my head constantly,” said Ms. Osbourne.

The abrupt absence Sharon took from The Talk, which ended up culminating as a five-week leave of absence, was spent in the hospital, where she was able to get the treatment and rest her mind so badly needed. Now, Sharon thanks her family, Ozzy in particular, for getting her admitted into a facility capable of providing the kind of care she needed.

“These thoughts coming into my head and pictures and people’s faces and I couldn’t control my head, but I couldn’t verbalize it,” Osbourne recalled. “I just didn’t have the strength to even say I need help, help me because I just couldn’t talk I was just flat, gone.”

The Osbourne Family Came Together To Help Sharon

ABC News reports that the Osbourne family came together as a single supportive team, as soon as it was determined that Sharon was in need of professional help. Jack Osbourne was key in finding the right treatment center for Sharon, while Ozzy stepped up to get his wife checked into the facility, as soon as everything had been arranged.

Sharon credits Ozzy for moving so fast and also makes it known that she had become ill before news of his infidelity had become known to her. Ms. Osbourne wanted it known that Ozzy’s cheating didn’t play a part in her mental breakdown.

Even now, after everything has been hashed out, Ms. Osbourne says she and Ozzy are working hard at restoring their relationship.

“I can’t imagine my life without him, and he can’t imagine his life without me, and everything that goes in between,” Sharon said. “I don’t know what else could happen in our lives that can try and separate us but things happen and we come right back together again.”

While Ms. Osbourne is feeling better, she says she recognizes that mental illness and especially depression are conditions which are never truly cured. It’s a day to day process, and Sharon says it’s something with which she continues to struggle and cope with, relying on the assistance and encouragement of her family and friends. The Talk co-host still has good days and bad days, but she adds that she’s learned to appreciate what she does have in her life.

“I think, if you are born with that, you have it all your life and it’s an ongoing battle,” Sharon Osbourne explains. “So it’s an ongoing thing of realizing how blessed you are and what you got to be happy about in the day and I have so much.”
