WWE News: Triple H Unveils New Cruiserweight Title

Triple H has gone from being a wrestler to being an executive, and the latest WWE news surrounding the now-controversial character is that he’s done something entirely non-controversial. He has unveiled a new title for potential wrestlers to win.

Because we don’t have enough titles for our wrestlers, Wrestling Inc. is reporting the latest bit of WWE news about the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship belt, which was unveiled tonight at the WWE Cruiserweight Classic finals. Triple H appeared with Gran Metalik and TJ Perkins, and when Perkins went on to win the fight, Twitter was ablaze with so much excitement that TJ Perkins quickly became a trending topic.

Triple H also showed the audience what the new title looks like and announced that the winner of tonight’s match, in this case, TJ Perkins, would go on to debut on Monday Night Raw with the title in hand.

And while it may seem a bit hokey, on the surface, to get yet another title for our fighters, Fox Sports has a much more positive take on the latest WWE news about the Cruiserweight Championship title.

First, they mention that the CWC is one of the best shows on the fledgling WWE Network both in terms of the entertainment value of the fights and in terms of the technical value of the fighters. Plus, unlike other wrestling matches, which tend to go on forever, the Cruiserweight Classic features fights that are no more than 10 minutes long at a clip, cutting out all of the unnecessary fluff in the match.

Finally, Fox Sports believes that it’s good for us wrestling fans to get to know the Cruiserweight Classic fighters because this has become the premier breeding ground for talent in the WWE. As today’s fight demonstrated, the CWC winners are mainlined right into Raw, giving them a fast-track to wrestling superstardom that NXT fighters don’t necessarily have. With the success of Finn Balor and the premiere of moves that wrestling fans haven’t yet seen, the Cruiserweights can only mean good things for the Raw brand.

And it looks like this latest bit of WWE news about the Cruiserweight Championship title is going over well with the rest of the WWE roster. According to 411Mania, other wrestlers are pretty welcoming of TJ Perkins and they look forward to seeing him in the ring. The most effusive of all the wrestlers is obviously Bayley, who is a former NXT champion and was present at the fight tonight. Happy to cheer on her fellow California native, Bayley was most excited when TJ took home the title.

Other wrestlers who sent their love to the newest WWE superstar included Mick Foley, who wanted to recruit other wrestlers, namely, Daniel Bryan, into announcing for future Cruiserweight Classic events, and Kalisto who posted a picture with TJ Perkins.

But Alexa Bliss said it best when she said that the CWC was the “pro wrestling Olympics.”
