Last Day To Get ‘Forza Horizon’ For $0, New Free Games For Xbox Live Gold Members Arriving Tomorrow, September 16

Today’s the last day for Xbox Live Gold members to download Forza Horizon as one of the free games for September. Commencing tomorrow, two new Xbox titles are going free, according to Major Nelson.

Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games’ racing video game Forza Horizon first hit the market in 2012 with a regular price tag of $20. Even though it is an Xbox 360 game, players now have the chance to enjoy it using their Xbox One because of the Xbox Backward Compatibility feature, according to a previous report from The Inquisitr.

As for other Forza Horizon news, the release of the 2016 entry to the racing video game franchise is almost here. To celebrate the arrival of Forza Horizon 3, scheduled for September 27, Xbox is holding an ultimate road trip adventure.

“To celebrate the launch of Forza Horizon 3, we’re setting out across Canada on an adventure that puts fans in the driver’s seat,” a blog posted yesterday on Xbox Wire read. “Starting today in Vancouver, British Columbia, we’re travelling across the country to a Forza Horizon-inspired event in Montreal, Quebec.”

“Along the way, we’ll make pit stops to complete real-life challenges chosen by you, in vehicles inspired by the award-winning game,” it added. Through voting, fans get to decide which challenges to do during the 15-day road trip.

Going back to the free games for Xbox Live Gold members this month, Forza Horizon will be replaced by 2007’s Mirror’s Edge as the free Xbox 360 title. The action-adventure platformer is scheduled to be free for the second half of September as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold program. This means Xbox Live Gold subscribers can get their own copy of Mirror’s Edge, typically priced at $15, without spending a dime from September 16-30. The gameplay summary for Mirror’s Edge reads as follows, lifted from Xbox Marketplace:

“In a city where information is heavily monitored, where crime is just a memory, where most people have sacrificed freedom for a comfortable life, some choose to live differently. Some, like you, are Runners, phenomenally agile messengers who deliver sensitive information for a price. You are a Runner called Faith. Murder has come to this city. And now you are being hunted.”

Meanwhile, there’s going to be another free title for Xbox One owners eligible for the Games with Gold offer this September. Tomorrow, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is joining Earthlock: Festival of Magic in the list of free games for Xbox Live Gold members.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic officially hit the shelves on September 1, and to celebrate its launch, Microsoft is offering it as a free Xbox One title for the entire month via Games with Gold. Downloading the Snowcastle Games’ RPG until September 30 for free means a savings worth $30.

The other free Xbox One game is Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, and it is set to go free tomorrow, September 16. Initially released April last year, the first entry in the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles saga comes with original price tag of $10, but it will be available for download at no expense until October 15. Below is the game description of the side-scrolling game, as posted on the official site.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China takes place in China, 1526, as the Ming dynasty starts to crumble. You embody Shao Jun, the last remaining Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood, returning to her homeland with a vendetta. Newly trained by the legendary Ezio Auditore, she is hell-bent on exacting vengeance and restoring her fallen Brotherhood.”

In addition to these Xbox One and Xbox 360 games going free tomorrow, Xbox Live Gold members can also take advantage of the discounted titles currently available. Some of the games on sale through Microsoft’s Deals with Gold and Warner Bros. Publisher Sale this week are Battleborn, Dead Island: Definitive Edition, Batman: Arkham Knight, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max and Mortal Kombat X.
