Building The Perfect FanDuel Fantasy Football Lineup For Week 2 Of 2016 NFL Season

With Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season now nothing but a fading memory, it’s time to look ahead to what’s in store for Week 2 fantasy football on FanDuel.

While it’s far too early in the season to give many of the trends that developed in Week 1 a ton of merit, we do have an idea about how most teams project to run their offense for the remainder of the season.

Based on projections and matchups, here’s what I’ve identified as a safe FanDuel fantasy football lineup for Week 2.

QB — Matthew Stafford — Detroit Lions — $7,800

Matthew Stafford electrified in Week 1, tallying 340 yards and three TDs all over the Indianapolis Colts as he led the Detroit Lions to a 39-35 victory on the road. In Week 2, the Lions host the Tennessee Titans indoors on the fast track of Ford Field in what should be a high-scoring affair devoid of solid defensive play.

Tennessee’s defense improved over the offseason but isn’t an overly intimidating unit. Stafford projects to throw the ball right around 40 times for the second-straight week, and could easily replicate his 26.1 fantasy point performance from Week 1 in Week 2 on FanDuel.

RB — Danny Woodhead — San Diego Chargers — $6,400 (Switch to Spencer Ware — Kansas City Chiefs — $6,800 if Jamaal Charles is ruled out)

The San Diego Chargers were dealt a devastating blow in Week 1 as WR Keenan Allen was lost for the season with a torn ACL. San Diego simply doesn’t have an adequate replacement for Allen on its roster, and will be forced to place added emphasis on its running game going forward.

Danny Woodhead was solid in Week 1, tallying 89 rushing yards, five receptions, 31 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown against the stout Kansas City Chiefs. He also received 16 carries as opposed to Melvin Gordon’s 14, which leads me to believe the two are in a somewhat even platoon this season.

For his affordable price, firing Woodhead up in Week 2 against the defensively suspect Jacksonville Jaguars makes an abundance of sense. However, if Jamaal Charles is ruled out for the Kansas City Chiefs, I implore you to upgrade to Spencer Ware, as he carries immense upside.

RB — T.J. Yeldon — Jacksonville Jaguars — $6,500

On Monday, NFL.com reported Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory was still hospitalized with an undisclosed injury. Thus, Ivory’s Week 2 status is very much in doubt, which means the Jaguars will likely be feeding T.J. Yeldon a plethora of carries against San Diego’s abysmal run defense on Sunday.

Yeldon tallied just 69 total yards against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, but did muster a receiving touchdown. For his price and considering his matchup is conducive to fantasy football gold, you can fire up Yeldon expecting to get your money’s worth.

WR — Antonio Brown — Pittsburgh Steelers — $9,200

Antonio Brown absolutely demolished the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, tallying eight receptions for 126 yards and two TDs. The Steelers continue to showcase a dynamic offense despite numerous injuries, and should make mincemeat of the Cincinnati Bengals by featuring Brown early and often at home in Week 2.

If you’re going to pay top dollar for a wide receiver, Brown is the guy you want.

WR — Kelvin Benjamin — Carolina Panthers — $7,500

Many FanDuel fantasy football experts were certain Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin would struggle in Week 1 against the defensive juggernaut Denver Broncos. Instead of being a non-factor, Benjamin dominated with six receptions for 91 yards and one TD.

Against the San Francisco 49ers in Carolina, the Panthers offense projects to explode. Expect to see Cam Newton hit Benjamin for nearly 100 yards and two TDs.

WR — Willie Snead — New Orleans Saints — $7,200

The New Orleans Saints lost a nail-biter to the Oakland Raiders (35-34) on Sunday, but looked absolutely incredible on offense. Willie Snead exposed the Raiders, tallying nine receptions for a remarkable 172 yards and one TD.

New Orleans takes on the New York Giants in Week 2, in what the swell folks in Las Vegas project to be the highest-scoring game of the week (O/U 52.5). Thus, for his price, Snead should far exceed the value in a shootout.

TE — Jason Witten — Dallas Cowboys — $5,900

In Week 1, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott targeted TE Jason Witten 14 times. As a result, Witten finished a respectable nine receptions for 66 yards. Thus, it’s fair to assume the rookie quarterback wisely intends on using the future Hall of Famer as his security blanket over the middle this season.

There simply aren’t many matchups that jump out of the page at me for tight ends this week, so Witten makes plenty of sense for his fair price as the volume will be there against the Washington Redskins. He could easily finish with a stat line similar to six receptions for 75 yards and one TD.

K — Will Lutz — New Orleans Saints — $4,500

Will Lutz tallied a solid 11 fantasy points in Week 1, but did miss two field goals. However, for his price, and considering he’s playing in what is expected to be the highest-scoring game of the week, Lutz is impossible to ignore.

If Jamaal Charles plays this week and the aforementioned pivot from T.J. Yeldon to Spencer Ware isn’t necessary, the remaining cap space can be used to upgrade this spot.

D — Baltimore Ravens — $4,500

The Baltimore Ravens held the Buffalo Bills to just seven points in Week 1. In Week 2, they travel to take on the woefully inadequate Cleveland Browns, who will be making a change at quarterback now that Robert Griffin III is out eight weeks.

For a minimum price, the Ravens carry tremendous upside in perhaps the premier position matchup of the week. Don’t miss out.
