All ‘Battlefield 4’ DLC Free This Week On Xbox One And 360 [Update: PlayStation Too]

In the hype leading up to the release of Battlefield 1, Electronic Arts has made all Battlefield 4 DLC free this week for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 via Deals with Gold. This is a great opportunity to catch up on all the content for the military shooter for those that missed out on when the add-ons were previously free.

The Battlefield 4 DLCs China Rising, Dragon’s Teeth, Naval Strike, Second Assault, and Final Stand are all currently free to download for the Xbox One from the new merged Xbox Store. The same expansions can be found on the Xbox Marketplace for Xbox 360 owners. These will be available to download free until Tuesday, September 20 at approximately 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT.

As of the time of this article, these Battlefield 4 add-ons have not been made free on the Origin Store for PC gamers. It also does not appear that these add-ons will be made available free to PlayStation 4 and PS3 owners with today’s PlayStation Store. This article will be updated if the DLC becomes available for free on any other platforms. Update: The DLC is available for free to PlayStation 4 owners via the PlayStation Store, but not PS3 owners.

China Rising was the first of the five DLC released for Battlefield 4 and includes the maps “Silk Road,” Altai Range,” “Dragon Pass,” and “Guilin Peaks.”

Second Assault was the second expansion launched and featured redesign variants of Battlefield 3 maps plus added Capture the Flag as a new multiplayer game type. The newly redesigned maps included “Caspian Border,” “Gulf of Oman,” “Operation Firestorm,” and “Operation Metro.”

The third DLC, Naval Strike, introduced the Carrier Assault mode inspired by Battlefield 2142. It also featured the South China Sea island based maps “Lost Islands,” “Nansha Strike,” “Wave Breaker,” and “Operation Mortar.”

Dragon’s Teeth brought another new game mode along with four maps. It adds the Chain Link multiplayer mode plus the maps “Lumphini Garden,” “Pearl Market,” “Propaganda,” and “Sunken Dragon.”

Lastly, the Final Stand add-on brought a collection of “secret prototype weapons and vehicles,” like a hover tank, along with the requisite four maps. The added maps are “Operation Whiteout,” “Giants of Karelia,” “Hammerhead,” and “Hangar 21.”

Xbox One owners with an EA Access subscription can play Battlefield 4 at no extra charge. The standard edition version of the game tops out at $29.99, but typically can be found for much less.

This is an example of Electronic Arts using a bit of promotional muscle for the impending release of Battlefield 1. The publisher and Microsoft announced a series of console bundles for the World War I shooter yesterday but appear to have more salvos standing by.

Battlefield 1 is set for an October 18 release for those that pre-order the $80 Early Enlister Deluxe Edition for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Those that decide on the Battlefield 1 Standard Edition for $60 will receive the game on Friday, October 21.

Expect a similar DLC setup for Battlefield 1 that was seen in Battlefield 4. DICE and Electronic Arts have already announced four expansion packs. There are 16 new multiplayer maps, new operations and games modes, new Elite classes, 20 new weapons, and new vehicles planned. Those that purchase the Premium Pass will also receive 14 Battlepacks containing weapons skins on a monthly basis starting on November 14; unique dog tags will be distributed as well.

The $50 Battlefield 1 Premium Pass will grant buyers a two-week head start on all expansions before their wider release. This will be good on all three platforms and is not a timed exclusive on any platform.
