Kurt Cobain: Does This Video Prove That The Nirvana Singer Is Still Alive And Living In Peru? [Video]

Kurt Cobain tragically ended his own life well over two decades ago, or at least that’s how the story goes. Like any high-profile celebrity, rumors swirled in the aftermath of the Nirvana frontman’s death, with many speculating that he may have been murdered, possibly even by his wife Courtney Love. At the time of Kurt Cobain’s death on April 27, 1994, he was a highly successful musician, Nirvana was on top of the world and leading the Seattle “grunge” music scene. Kurt was dad to a small daughter, Francis Bean, and one half of a tumultuous marriage.

Now, over 20 years since Kurt Cobain’s tragic and untimely death, new footage has shown up on social media that is asking a serious question. Is Kurt Cobain really dead? Could his suicide have been an elaborate hoax so that he could escape the commercial music scene that had been so oppressive to him?

It’s hard to say, but a video out of Peru featuring a singer referred to as Ramiro Saavedra singing one of Nirvana’s most successful songs for a TV show. If this isn’t Kurt Cobain in the flesh, the singer is definitely channeling Kurt in this performance of “Come As You Are.” The video was recorded a few years ago, back in April of 2012. Check it out.

As you can see and hear in the video, the singer looks a bit like Kurt Cobain (circa 1994), but if you close your eyes and listen, the uncanny resemblance becomes even more stark.

The Mirror UK reports that the video of the apparent Kurt Cobain clone has taken YouTube and social media by storm, with many wondering if it’s possible that Cobain could still be alive and well and hiding out in Peru.

“OMG Kurt Cobain from Nirvana is alive!”

While there are some definite similarities between the “Come As You Are” singer in the YouTube video and Kurt Cobain, discerning viewers (and those who are more than passingly familiar with Cobain’s life and work) quickly ascertained that it’s highly unlikely that the extremely talented singer in the video above is actually Kurt Cobain.

For one, if the 2012 video actually featured Kurt Cobain, the Nirvana founder would have had to have been living in some kind of wrinkle in time for the last 20-plus years. If Kurt Cobain were still alive today, he would be pushing 50-years-old today. While the dude in the video sounds an awful lot like Kurt and looks a good deal (at least at first glance) like a young Kurt Cobain, Kurt Cobain wouldn’t be young anymore if he were still alive today.

Of course, there is plastic surgery. But if you were going to go to the trouble of surgically altering your appearance, why dress exactly like a younger version of yourself?

Probably the biggest tell of the video can be noted if you watch the Kurt Cobain wannabe play his guitar. While he does an adequate job of strumming the strings, something is definitely off. Namely, the guy’s dominant hand. The performer known as Ramiro Saavedra is using his right hand in the video, while Kurt Cobain is (or at least was) left-handed. That fact is well documented by watching his musical performances, not to mention that it was repeatedly mentioned following the purportedly self-inflicted gunshot wound that ended Kurt Cobain’s life.

Something that’s a lot more difficult to change than one’s appearance.

At least one fan who watch the video realized pretty quickly that the talented performer caught on camera wasn’t Kurt Cobain.

“Just watch this video, it’s obviously not real but I know you’ll appreciate how alike he is!!!! (sic)”

Check out the real Kurt performing “Come As You Are,” live and unplugged, and compare the similarities and differences between the real Kurt Cobain and his impersonator.

Sadly, despite the hype. it doesn’t appear that Kurt Cobain is alive and well and living in Peru.
