Patrice ‘Tricey’ Brown Photos: Atlanta Teacher Goes Viral For Her Instagram Pictures, Sparks Debate About Racy Classroom Attire

Patrice “Tricey” Brown is going viral for a series of Instagram pictures that have many dubbing her the “sexiest” teacher, but the photos are also kicking up controversy over the elementary school teacher’s seemingly racy attire.

Brown is a fourth grade teacher in Atlanta who also happens to have a big following on social media. The 2012 Alabama State University graduate has shared a number of photos of her work attire, which include tight-fitting dresses and high heels.

Brown’s popularity took off this week, with her pictures making the rounds on Twitter and Instagram. It earned her a number of fans, who shared the pictures along with some flattering comments.

“I would flunk, on purpose, just so I could take Your class again,” wrote one admirer.

As The Root noted, Patrice “Tricey” Brown’s racy teaching photos have also sparked a backlash among some who believe that her attire is not appropriate for fourth graders.

“A fourth-grade Atlanta teacher has been called the ‘sexiest’ teacher alive by social media. A photo of Patrice ‘Tricey’ Brown went viral over the weekend, and in the photo, Brown is wearing a form-fitting dress while in class. But the photos have people divided when it comes to what’s supposedly appropriate teaching attire.”

Another detractor noted that Patrice Brown appears to be inviting the controversy herself by snapping the pictures in her tight-fitting attire — and doing so during school hours. Many of the pictures showed Brown in her classroom, though it appeared that there were no students present during any of her impromptu photo shoots.

“She wouldn’t be teaching my child dressed like that … there’s a time and a place for everything and in the classroom is not it. Taking selfies in the middle of the classroom,” one person wrote.

But Patrice Brown has gotten many defenders as well. Some have noted that her clothing is actually fitted well as to not reveal any skin, but that it’s more noticeably tight because she happens to have a bigger frame.

While Brown does have some other pictures posted in which she’s revealing more skin — including some shots of her lounging in a bikini — her school shots don’t seem to show any particularly racy attire.

But other teachers have gotten in trouble in the past for racy photos taken outside of work. In 2013, Florida teacher Olivia Sprauer was fired from her job after pictures from a bikini photo shoot started making the rounds and made their way to the school’s principal.

The English teacher, who modeled under the name Victoria James, said she was disappointed that she would not be seeing her students through to the end of the year but otherwise didn’t regret taking the racy photos.

“Lots of teachers get fired or asked to resign for the same things I did,” Olivia Sprauer told The Huffington Post. “I knew I didn’t want to come back next year and I knew I wanted to go to grad school so I decided if I made it to the end of the year I would be happy.”

Sprauer also defended the pictures, saying they were not all that revealing.

“I don’t make pornography. I don’t open my legs on camera. I take swimsuit glamour style photography,” Sprauer said.

But after being fired, Sprauer told the news outlet that she might consider more racy photographs to make money off her modeling fame.

It’s not clear if Patrice “Tricey” Brown would be in trouble for any of her Instagram photos, and there appears to be nothing too egregious about any of the pictures she’s shared. But as photos of the Atlanta teacher go viral this week, the debate and controversy they have generated appears to be very real.
