‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Jamie Dornan Will Not Return For Any More Sequels: ‘I’m Done With Christian Grey’

Jamie Dornan’s time as Christian Grey is officially at an end.

Production for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed wrapped a few months back, and Dornan recently proclaimed his excitement for the end of the erotic franchise. Does this mean Dornan will not return for E.L. James’ fourth novel, Grey?

Xpose is reporting that Dornan will never reprise his role in Fifty Shades of Grey, even if James’ new novel is made into a movie.

“We have done two movies back to back now, and I’m actually finished with it,” Dornan explained. “I’ve done Fifty Shades forever.”

With filming now complete, Dornan is already looking ahead to future projects.

“I move on very fast in my mind. As much as from the outside people think you are synonymous with one character, but I’m very much like, ‘Right, that’s done’, and move on to the next project and worry about that character,” he stated.

Dornan was cast to play Christian after Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the running.

Since landing the role, Dornan has appeared in several films, including Anthropoid, The 9th Life of Louis Drax, and The Siege of Jadotville.

According to Irish Examiner, Dornan is looking to expand his career in Hollywood even more and doesn’t want to only be known as the guy who played Christian Grey.

“I think as an actor, you do just want to mix it up,” he shared during an appearance on Good Morning America. “You don’t want to be typecast.”

While Dornan is looking forward to whatever comes next, he enjoyed working on the hit franchise and is happy with how producers handled the last two films.

“We filmed two and three back to back,” he stated. “It was the right way to do it. It was good for everyone, in terms of keeping up with the energy… It’s hard in a way for people to re-motivate themselves and get back into character.”

That being said, The Stir is reporting that Dornan has no problem at all playing a serial killer on The Fall for the foreseeable future, which makes fans wonder why he isn’t willing to reprise his role as Christian Grey.

After all, the Fifty Shades franchise is insanely popular and is expected to have a lot of success at the box office. If Dornan is trying to expand his movie career, then why not spend some more time in a blockbuster franchise?

Is there another reason why Dornan is finished playing Christian Grey after Fifty Shades Freed?

Dornan’s home life could be one reason why he is hanging it up.

The actor faced a lot of rumors during his time on the set with Dakota Johnson. Their onscreen romance, which included a lot of sex scenes, allegedly made Dornan’s wife, Amelia Warner, jealous.

Dornan leaving the series will certainly make Warner happy, especially if the jealousy rumors are true.

Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Dornan’s next project is an indie film titled Untogether.

The movie stars Jemima Kirke (Girls), Ben Mendelsohn, and Lola Kirke (Mozart in the Jungle) and centers on the story of a teen prodigy who is recovering from heroin addiction and struggling to make it as a writer.

Dornan plays a successful writer in the film, who only wants to become wealthy and be surrounded by women.

Emma Forrest is directing the project, which is also based on her original screenplay.

In the meantime, fans can watch Dornan when The Siege of Jadotville hits Netflix in October, and when the new season of The Fall returns next month.

Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to open in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017, while Fifty Shades Freed will be released the following year.

The official trailer for Fifty Shades Darker debuts September 13, 2016, and until then, enjoy the teaser below.
