Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo Love Story Etched In Gold, Out In The Open In October

If you think Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are made for each other, you are probably right.

True love simply happens; it cannot be explained. It starts off as a delightful friendship, and gradually catches the fire of love. There is quiet understanding, mutual respect, sharing, joy and tears. Then, there is loyalty through good times and bad.

From their past actions, it is visibly evident that South Korean actors Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are an embodiment of these attributes.

On September 8, during the Hallyu awards ceremony, it was visibly evident that South Korean actor Song Joong-ki was missing Song Hye-kyo, who skipped the event.

When the host asked the actor who he was thinking about at the moment, Song Joong-ki instantly replied, “Song Hye-kyo.” In all humility, he added that Song Hye-kyo must have won the award.

Moreover, a report by Soompi quoted Song Joong-ki referring to Song Hye-kyo as his partner. When asked about Song Hye-kyo sending him a coffee truck to the sets of Battleship Island, Song Joong-ki explained that not only did Song Hye-kyo send him a coffee truck, she also sent him a snack truck. “She is the best partner,” said a jubilant Song Joong-ki.

Every time a Korean drama makes headlines, it gets a humongous number of followers. More often than not, these fans are either loyal to the drama’s lead actor or the lead actress. Rarely do you see a fan who is equally fond of both.

However, when Descendants of the Sun took off, it created a new breed of fans — the ones who appreciated the potential of both Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo and are equally invested in both.

Although the drama concluded in April, the cutely passionate onscreen romance of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo still lingers.

To make the Descendants of the Sun couple immortal, South Korea has come up with a one-of-a-kind idea that will someday set the stage for a blooming romance between Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo.

Four companies have joined hands to promote this initiative: Solip Entertainment, Descendants of the Sun Cultural Industry Special Purpose Company, NEW, and KOMSCO (Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation).

Together, they are launching official commemorative medals in gold, silver and bronze for the SongSong couple in October.

One side of the medal shows the faces of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, including the passionate moment where they were caught lip-locked. The other side of the medal shows Zakinthos Island of Greece, which was the backdrop of the drama.

These medals will be made in gold, silver and brass. These limited edition SongSong medals will be released worldwide, including China, although one wonders if China will permit South Korean trade.

Solip Entertainment, in its website, stated that they decided to design the official commemorative medal project for Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo to memorialize the drama Descendants of the Sun, which boosted the Hallyu phenomenon.

The company believes that Hallyu has more potential than this, and more dramas will made that will promote the Korean wave on a global scale.

Meanwhile, fans are waiting with bated breath for the reunion of Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. They are disappointed that Song Hye-kyo did not make it to the awards ceremony. Social media was abuzz with posts ranting about Song Hye-kyo’s absence.

The last time the couple met was on August 2 during the special DVD launch of Descendants of the Sun, as reported by Soompi.

Hopefully, she will make it to Song Joong-ki’s birthday bash on September 19.
