‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Theme Accidentally Leaked! Plus Surprising Guest Star Promises ‘Heightened Sexuality’

Ryan Murphy has done an excellent job keeping Season 6 of American Horror Story a secret, until now.

The new theme for the upcoming season just leaked online, offering fans a first look at what to expect when American Horror Story returns to FX this fall.

According to Chatt Sports Net, the new season will be similar to Stephen King’s best-selling book, The Mist.

The theme was first leaked by Rotten Tomatoes, who accidentally posted American Horror Story: The Mist for the Season 6 title. The outlet removed the title a few hours after the fact, but not before fans took notice.

The speculation went into overdrive after TV Guide reportedly made the same mistake.

iTech Post is reporting that Murphy and FX executives wanted to keep the theme a secret as long as possible.

In fact, producers have already released a few teaser trailers for the new season, though FX president John Landorant revealed they aren’t necessarily real.

Unfortunately, it looks like all the secrecy collapsed with the latest leak, unless The Mist theme is just another clever trick.

While the network has not confirmed the new theme, fans have already started to wonder how the show will incorporate elements of King’s novel.

As fans will recall, The Mist was made into a movie back in 2007, starring Laurie Holden and Thomas Jane.

Given American Horror Story’s anthology qualities, it makes sense that the show would pay homage to King.

Meanwhile, the new season of American Horror Story will includes the likes of Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Leslie Jordan, Denis O’Hare, and Matt Bomer.

Speaking of the cast, Enstarz is reporting that fans will see Cuba Gooding Jr. make his American Horror Story debut this fall.

Gooding is coming off a successful time working with Murphy on The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and recently confirmed his involvement on the horror show.

“When Ryan calls you and says, ‘Hey can you do this? Would you like to do that?’ It’s an immediate yes, no matter what it is,” Gooding revealed. “That’s how I felt when I first met him and now, going on two years later. It’s just been an honor – it’s been a treat.”

This will also be Gooding’s second chance working with Paulson, who also appeared on The People v. O.J.. Only this time, Gooding and Paulson might actually have scenes together.

“It’s really been a treat to finally engage with her on camera, because when we did The People v. O.J. it was more about my scenes and then her scenes and us being in the courtroom but separate,” he shared. “But we’re not separate no more!”

Gooding did not dish on any specifics in the new season, though he assured fans that he will be a big part of the show.

At the same time, Gooding revealed that Season 6 will feature a “heightened sexuality” from seasons past.

Does this mean Gooding will play a part in the added sex next season?

Prior to Gooding’s involvement in the series, he had not actually seen American Horror Story. However, the actor got caught up on past seasons after he was cast for a spot.

“I don’t like scary shows and things,” he admitted, adding that he now appreciates the “brilliance that is that Murphy brand.”

It isn’t known what part Gooding will play in the series, though it sounds like Murphy has a lot of surprises in store when the hit horror series returns for another season.

Season 6 of American Horror Story is scheduled to premiere Sept. 14 on FX.
