‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Spoilers: Negan Warns ‘Things Have Changed’ In New Trailer, Plus Will Daryl Die?

Negan is about to introduce some big changes when The Walking Dead returns for Season 7.

Us Magazine just released a new teaser for the upcoming season, and things aren’t looking good for Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and company.

“There are rules,” Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is heard telling Rick’s group in the clip. “You earn what you take.”

Negan is shown walking around Rick and the rest of the group holding a barbed wire baseball bat.

The clip cuts to zombies walking around town in between takes of car chases and brutal fights.

“Things have changed,” Negan adds. “Whatever you had going for you, that’s over.”

The trailer ends with Negan offering an ominous warning, “Thing is, I am everywhere.”

According to E! Online, Negan is the super villain fans have waited to see emerge on the show.

“He’s been the ultimate villain in the comic book, and I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan is bringing him to life the way that I imagined because he is larger than life, he is charismatic, and he really enjoys what he does,” Gale Ann Hurd revealed.

The Walking Dead is no stranger to villains, yet Negan offers something no other villain has brought to the table.

“He doesn’t seem to have much of a conscience about it, and that’s the kind of person we haven’t seen before,” she stated. “Everyone else had a justification that they were reasoning as to why they did what they did, some of the evil things. They always had an excuse. Well, Negan rules.”

While it isn’t clear how Rick and his group will get away from Negan, director Greg Nicotero revealed that fans will find out who Negan hit with the bat at the end Season 6.

Unlike Glenn’s (Steven Yeun) fate last season of The Walking Dead, the truth will be revealed in the Season 7 premiere.

Fans will have to wait until the Season 7 premiere to find out which character died. Nicotero did, however, sit down with Entertainment Weekly and talk about the Season 6 cliffhanger.

“I would say our fans are passionate, and for me personally, yeah, I was a little surprised that some of our viewers were angered by that,” Nicotero shared. “If we would have shown the deaths, then they wouldn’t have felt our characters in Season 7 the way they need to. And the thing that I think a lot of people will get out of it is how that moment changes the entire makeup of our universe within a split second. And it’s that moment that launches our entire Season 7 into that direction.”

What can fans expect to unfold in the coming season?

Part of the excitement of bringing Negan onto the show is how much the villain expands The Walking Dead universe, which is another reason for last season’s cliffhanger.

“And the exciting part of the season coming up is, it’s not just the Sanctuary that we’re going to experience, but we have the Hilltop, we have the Kingdom, so what we’ve done is, we’ve opened up our universe to bring in many more planets, for lack of a better description,” Nicotero added.

According to Den of Geek, the Kingdom is ruled by Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Shiva, his pet tiger.

At the same time, AMC also released a clip of one of Negan’s lieutenants, Dwight, riding around on Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) motorcycle. The character is also sporting Daryl’s vest.

Does this mean that Daryl might be the one Negan kills during the Season 7 premiere?

Fans can find out which character will meet their untimely end when the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead airs Oct. 23 on AMC, check out the preview below.
