Katy Perry, Taylor Swift Collaboration Won’t Happen Unless Swift Apologizes

Don’t expect Katy Perry and Taylor Swift to collaborate anytime soon. The “Dark Horse” singer revealed to a fan on Twitter that she will only work with her arch enemy if Swift apologizes first. Katy took to Twitter after it was reported that she racked up nearly 92 million followers on the social media site. She has become one of the most-followed celebrities on Twitter, while Taylor Swift still rules Instagram.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, Katy Perry took advantage of her Twitter reign by responding to her fans. The 31-year-old spent most of the afternoon answering their questions during an impromptu Twitter Q&A, as reported by Us Weekly. Perry revealed that she was bored and waiting around in her “polka dot robe” for the Cheesecake Factory to deliver her food, so she decided to pass the time by talking to her beloved Katy Kats.

One fan asked Perry if she would be willing to collaborate with Swift, 26, who she used to be good friends with before bad blood came between them. Perry responded with a simple, “If she says sorry, sure!” sending her fans into a meltdown over the possibility.

Of course, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have been involved in an ongoing feud since Swift called her out in her 2014 Rolling Stone cover story. During the interview, she admitted that one of her fellow pop stars tried to steal her tour’s backup dancers right under her nose.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ Then last year, the other star crossed a line,” Swift said. “She did something so horrible, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy?”

However, there are still some fans who believe that Perry and Swift’s bad blood runs deep because they both have history with John Mayer. Swift dated the womanizing musician from November, 2009, to February, 2010, according to StyleCaster. But, it appears that their short-lived relationship meant a lot to her since she called him out in her song “Dear John.” Perry and Mayer started dating in the summer of 2012 and dated on-and-off for the next four years, until the pair officially called it quits in February of 2016, right before she started dating Orlando Bloom.

Shortly after Swift’s cover story, Perry took to Twitter to post, “Watch out for the Regina George in Sheep’s clothing.” Since then, the feuding pop divas hit back via diss tracks and shady tweets.

Their feud picked up steam once again after Calvin Harris and Swift ended their relationship. When Harris, 32, confirmed that Swift co-wrote his hit song “This Is What You Came for,” featuring Rihanna, he decided to lash back at the singer in a lengthy Twitter rant, according to E! Online.

“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” Harris tweeted. “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Perry] ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”

Then, Perry threw shade at Swift by posting a GIF of Hilary Clinton looking speechless before nodding and smiling in agreement. The “Rise” singer then retweeted her tweet from May of 2015 — “Time, the ultimate truth teller” — after Swift released her music video for “Bad Blood,” which is said to be about her feud with Perry.

It’ll be interesting to see if Swift responds and actually apologizes to Perry for dragging her through the media. What are your thoughts? Do you think Swift will ever apologize?
