‘Supernatural’ Season 12 2016-2017 With Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles And Rick Springfield [Spoilers]

Supernatural Season 12 will premiere on the CW, Thursday, October 13. The series will not feature quite as much heaven, but there will be plenty of hellfire, and a whole lot of danger for Sam, Dean and their resurrected mother, Mary.

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, AKA Sam and Dean Winchester, will find themselves in all sorts of scrapes as usual, but this time they will have their mother, a veteran hunter, with them, according to International Business Times. This is exceptionally strange, or would be anywhere other than the Supernatural series, because Mary, Samantha Smith, died when Sam was a baby but she is back now.

Supernatural Season 12 would, by the nature of the show, require a fresh resurrection. Hopefully one will be enough. Apparently, the tendency toward resurrection runs in the family. How many times have Sam and Dean come back from the dead?

Supernatural Season 12 has some real shocking stuff planned, including a casting oddity that is sure to drag a smile out of music fans. Lucifer will be played by none other than Rick Springfield this season, according to TV Line. Wow! Springfield will play a washed up rock star called Vince Vincente, who is just the right person for Lucifer to fully possess.

Mark Sheppard’s character, none other than the King of Hell Crowley, will be taking on this new Rick Springfield version of Lucifer as he attempts to reclaim his kingdom from the boss, no not Bruce Springsteen. Lucifer is Crowley’s boss, and he’s possessing Rick Springfield. It is hard not to be a bit tongue and cheek about that one, but certainly that was the intention in this wonderful roller coaster ride of a show that has viewers laughing until they cry one minute and then finding themselves absolutely terrified the next.

Jensen Ackles explained in a recent interview with Cinema Blend how Supernatural works to alternately be frightening and funny, tongue and cheek one minute and deadly serious the next.

“I think the show is truly at its best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously, then it does take itself seriously, then gets scary as s**t. In my opinion, that’s when we’re in the pocket.”

Supernatural Season 12 promises to be just as exciting and diverse as previous Supernatural seasons, with a vast array of different styles in different episodes. Padalecki and Ackles seem to specialize in switching up the mood really quickly.

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have been Sam and Dean for 12 years now, and they certainly know the routine. Still, they are amazingly versatile actors capable of evoking laughter, tears and a lot of genuine affection from their viewers. It is that honest affection that makes fans so involved in Supernatural. Despite the unlikely circumstances Jared and Jensen may portray, Sam and Dean seem like realistic and likable people. Sam and Dean are incredibly well-developed characters.

Supernatural Season 12 will start off with a more serious problem than who is running hell. Crowley and Lucifer will fight that out over time. Even though it appeared Sam, Jared Padalecki, was shot in the Season 11 cliffhanger, viewers will learn in Episode 1 that he has actually been kidnapped by the Men of Letters. What is worse, he is being tortured. Sometimes the good guys, sometimes the bad guys, the Men of Letters are not always on Sam and Dean’s side. Apparently, this is one of those times when they are not.

Mary, Dean, and Cas spend the first three Supernatural episodes of Season 12 at least trying to rescue Sam, according to the International Business Times. Later in the season, it will be Dean who takes a beating, but not before the Supernatural team takes on Lucifer and The Men of Letters in the same episode, which should be around Episode 6.
