Continuing its recent trend of kid-oriented spoofs of popular adult programs, Sesame Street has put together an amusing video based on HBO’s popular Prohibition-era crime drama Boardwalk Empire.

The Boardwalk Empire-style video stars Nucky Ducky and Mallard Capone taking “a walk on the bird-walk” and facing off against Clucky Luciano. It ends in classic Sesame Street style, with all characters eventually reaching a compromise and learning an important moral. It also goes plainly anti-Scorsese by not using the f-word (come on, it’s a kid’s show), but, since the HBO show drops the f-bomb so often, they had to replace it with something. And they did. Instead of the f-word, the characters in the video use the not-so-subtle “cluck” instead.

Sesame Street has also done video send-ups of AMC’s Mad Men and another HBO show, True Blood.

Reaction to the Sesame Street adaptation of Boardwalk Empire has been mostly what you might expect: nostalgic adults dying of laughter. One commenter on Gawker gave a hint as to what Sesame Street spoof he’d like to see next:

“I’m still holding out for the Dexter spoof, in which an trail of chocolate chips accidentally left at the scene of a rapist’s decapitation almost gets Cookie Monster caught.”

And then, you know, they learn something about compromise.

Personally, I’m holding out for a Game of Thrones-style video from Sesame Street. While Boardwalk Empire is great, it is only HBO’s second-greatest show at best, and it’d be interesting to see emotionally damaged puppets teach viewers the ABC’s during a racy sex scene. I think it’s called “sexposition” or something. Okay, that would never happen, but we could feasibly see Kermit unjustly executed in front of the statue of Baelor.
