The Real Reason Katie Holmes And Jamie Foxx Can’t Go Public — Tom Cruise Won’t Let Them!

There might be a good reason why Katie Holmes can’t go public with her romance with Jamie Foxx, and it has nothing to do with a need for privacy.

Radar Online is reporting that Holmes can’t publicly date anyone until 2017 per her divorce agreement with Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise.

“Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce,” an insider told the outlet.

The special clause doesn’t prevent Holmes from seeing another man. It does, however, stop her from announcing a relationship to the public.

Is this why Holmes and Foxx have been so secretive about their relationship?

“She’s allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she’s not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri,” the source explained. “Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms – and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself.”

According to Hollywood Life, breaking her silence would make Holmes forfeit all the money she made in the settlement, which isn’t something the actress is willing to do.

If Holmes does have a secret clause in her divorce that prevents a public relationship, then it would explain why she has been so secretive about her dating life in recent years.

In fact, when asked about who she was dating a couple months back, Holmes told reporters, “That’s not something I want to answer!”

Fear of losing millions of dollars is definitely enough motivation to keep quiet about a relationship.

According to Metro, Holmes has been linked to Foxx for a number of years now, though little evidence has turned up to substantiate the rumors.

That changed a few months ago when Foxx’s friend and Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Claudia Jordan, revealed his romance with Katie Holmes was alive and well.

After making the announcement, Jordan recanted her comments and denied knowing about Foxx’s personal life.

Just last month, Holmes almost broke her cover during Barbara Streisand’s New York concert. The actress couldn’t help but cheer Foxx on as he performed a song with Streisand.

She later joined Foxx backstage and even went inside his dressing room.

“They figured it wasn’t a violation of the public rule because security prevented photos. They were so discreet,” an inside source revealed.

For his part, the insider stated that Cruise doesn’t really mind if Holmes and Foxx are dating. He would, however, like to see his money back if she goes public before 2017.

Holmes divorced Cruise back in 2012. The two were married for five years and had one daughter together.

Since their messy divorce, Cruise and Holmes have not maintained open channels of communication. In fact, reports indicate that Cruise hasn’t spoken to his ex-wife in years.

At the same time, Cruise and Foxx are good friends. They even starred together in the 2004 film, Collateral.

Holmes has been linked with Foxx ever since they shared a dance during a benefit party in The Hamptons. Neither Foxx nor Holmes have ever spoke about their romance in public and refuse to address the rumors surrounding their mysterious relationship.

For now, it isn’t clear if Holmes and Foxx will go public with their relationship after this year, let alone whether or not the two are still together.

If Holmes wants to keep the child support money from Cruise, then she might have to wait a bit longer before she can finally tell the world about her romance with Foxx.
