First Look At ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Final Season, Plus Watch The Entire Cast Say Goodbye

Damon Salvatore is going back to his evil ways in Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries.

By the time the hit series returns for its final season, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be back to his old self, which means luring young couples for a night time snack. Sound familiar?

The only difference is that Damon has a little extra help this time around in the form of Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

E! News released the first sneak peek at the coming season of The Vampire Diaries. The clip shows Damon and Enzo teaming up on a young couple out for a night drive.

After successfully capturing the couple with the Season 1 body in the street trick, Damon and Enzo take them to a shady looking warehouse and start feeding. Of course, the men are acting under the influence of the demon thing that possessed them in the Season 7 finale.

As fans will recall, they opened a sealed vault that let loose an evil entity on Mystic Falls. The identity of the evil thing isn’t known, but it looks like Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) will team up to get to the bottom of it.

The trailer features Stefan and Bonnie following their first lead after months of investigating. Hopefully, their efforts will lead them one step closer in reviving Damon and Enzo.

Of course, Damon returning to his former self isn’t that surprising. After all, Damon started off as a pretty bad character on the show before he started to change.

TV Guide is also reporting that many fans are excited at the prospects of an evil Damon in Season 8. Not only does Damon’s ability to commit terrible deeds add layers of depth to his personality, but it also challenges the viewer’s capacity for forgiveness and empathy.

It also means that fans will get to see more of Somerhalder’s attitude and smirk, which is definitely something to look forward to as The Vampire Diaries wraps up for good.

At the same time, the clip also featured a first glimpse at Kristen Gutoskie’s Seline, the new nanny for Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric (Matt Davis). Seline is described as a “warm, nurturing nanny of two young kids by day, and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night.”

Furthermore, Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) will be returning next season and is expected to appear in Episode 3. Producers have yet to reveal how long Tyler will be included in this season’s storyline.

Speaking of Tyler, TV Guide is reporting that he and Damon might be headed for another near-death encounter. Fans last saw Tyler in Season 7 when he and Damon almost killed each other. This time, with Damon under the influence of the demon, it doesn’t look like things are going to end well.

It isn’t known if Tyler will survive his encounter with Damon, though fans can hope that he reasons his way out of this one.

According to TV Line, Tyler will try to talk with Damon before getting physical. In order to talk some sense into Damon, Tyler will remind him of who is important.

Tyler isn’t the only character set to return in the show’s final season. Mark Pedowitz recently revealed that “discussion are underway” to bring Nina Dobrev back to The Vampire Diaries in Season 8.

“We’d love to have Nina back,” Pedowitz shared. “She was great for The CW. She was integral for The Vampire Diaries.”

Dobrev’s involvement in the final season has not been confirmed.

Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries will premiere October 21 on The CW.
