Brazzers Website Leak: How To Search The Hacked Database Of 800,000 Users By Name Or Email

The adult website, Brazzers was hit with a major data breach that sent the information of 800,000 users to the internet, and anyone who wants to search the database by either email or name will now be able to do so.

News of the leak has brought worldwide attention, both from security experts and concerned users who are worried that their personal information might be on the internet for all to see. The Brazzers leak reportedly contained 790,724 unique email addresses, along with the username and passwords of the people registered to the site, Tech Worm reported.

The Brazzers leak is apparently different than the people who signed up and paid money for access to the adult website. The Brazzers breach contained information for people who signed up for the site’s forum, which did not require a subscription.

Some users of the Brazzers forum had taken precaution against the leak. One forum user told Motherboard that the risks were apparent in giving out personal information to a third party.

“It’s unfortunate that my information was included in the breach, but that’s the risk you run making an account anywhere on the web,” the user said in an email.

Others noted that they used throw-away email addresses that could not be traced back to them. But still, even users who took precautions to keep their identities private expressed worry that the site’s security had been breached.

Though the information is just hitting the internet now, it appears that the Brazzers leak actually took place about four years ago. Matt Stevens, the company’s public relations manager, told Motherboard that the details from the incident match a data breach that took place in 2012 on the Brazzersforum site as the result of a vulnerability in third-party software.

“That being said, users’ accounts were shared between Brazzers and the ‘Brazzersforum’ which was created for user convenience. That resulted in a small portion of our user accounts being exposed and we took corrective measures in the days following this incident to protect our users,” Stevens said.

The hack on the Brazzers database comes almost exactly one year after another high-profile information dump from an adult website. Ashley Madison, the infidelity-promoting site that was hit by hackers last year, also had user information flood the internet.

The Ashley Madison user information was released on the internet in August of 2015, leading to a number of sites that compiled the information into an easy-to-search format. That database led to a number of high-profile people being caught, including a number of clergy members, and Josh Duggar, the eldest son of the ultra-religious 19 Kids and Counting family.

Although the data breach at Brazzers contains only email and password information and not necessarily personal information, such as real names, credit card numbers, or social security numbers, it is still being seen as a major data breach. As the site, Best Security Search noted, there could still be identifiable information, including work email addresses or emails containing real names contained in the data dump.

“Publically available information from the web can be easily used for nefarious purposes. What would be posted on the Brazzers forum if not comments about porn, which can contain pretty private information like sexual preferences, fetishes, and other stuff people posted? The situation could be somewhat similar to the Ashley Madison hack where emails, passwords, and usernames leaked along with very personal information like sexual preferences, kinks, etc.”

Those who want to search the Brazzers database by email or username can find the full information at the website, Have i been pwned?, a site dedicated to tracking website breaches and sharing the information.
