‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Spoilers: Is Episode 300 The End For Sam And Dean?

Warning: This article could contain Supernatural Season 12 spoilers.

Supernatural Season 12 finally hits the airwaves next month, and fans of CW’s longest-running series are wondering just how many episodes Sam and Dean Winchester have left in them.

Series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have also been contemplating the future of Supernatural, according to a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. After 241 episodes and facing every manner of apocalyptic doom, is the end near for the Winchester brothers?

Ackles says he has an end in mind.

“In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, whatever that might be. And 300’s a good number to work for.”

Padalecki concurs.

“When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There’s a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we’re going to make it to 300.”

Fans of the show shouldn’t feel too glum. Supernatural Season 12 will have 23 episodes, and in order to hit Episode 300, Sam and Dean would have to continue their righteous fight against evil for 23 more episodes in Season 13 and 13 episodes in a potential Season 14, so there’s a lot of story left to be told.

Supernatural executive producer Bob Singer says he’s long envisioned a specific ending.

“I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we’ve earned that.”

With Supernatural Season 12 about to premiere, Ackles says he and Padalecki still look forward to going to work everyday and giving their all to the fans.

“I feel if I ever show up to set and I feel like I don’t care, or if I feel like he doesn’t care, then that’s the canary leaving the mine. To this day, I have not really ever sensed that from myself or him…They’re paying us to bring that little bit of magic to what they wrote, and I still feel that magic today. The day that I don’t feel that magic will be a very sad day, and I hope that day never comes. I’d like to get to 300 before that day comes.”

Other Supernatural Season 12 spoilers have come out recently, including a TV Line report that Adam Rose will be resuming his role as Hitler-fighting Aaron Bass — who last appeared in Season 8 — in the fifth episode of the upcoming season. Fans will remember Bass is the grandson of a member of the Judah Initiative, a band of rabbis who rose up against the evil Thule Society. According to Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb, the Thule Society will also be back, and they’re up to no good.

“[They] want to enact their master plan and bring back Hitler. Sam and Dean are going to fight Hitler, and that’s opening up some interesting doors for us in terms of just doing some more crazy stuff.”

More big Supernatural Season 12 spoilers recently dropped when Entertainment Weekly asked Dabb about this season’s big bad. Apparently, Sam and Dean will be up against multiple baddies this year.

“At the beginning of the season, Lucifer’s still out there. You’ve got the British Men of Letters, and you’ve got a couple other players. It’s less Sam and Dean having to go up against one enemy and it’s more Sam and Dean, especially as the season progresses, feeling they’re surrounded by enemies, some of whom may be people they have viewed as allies up until this point.”

What do you think of the latest Supernatural Season 12 spoilers? Do you think it’s a good idea to end the series after 300 episodes?

Supernatural Season 12 premieres Thursday, October 13 at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
