[VIDEO] Kurt Cobain makes long-awaited return in Guitar Hero 5

Activision has decided it could shift a few more copies of Guitar Hero 5 by including a virtual Kurt Cobain, and I know what you’re thinking: that could be the classiest damn move you’ve ever heard of.

Cobain will be appearing in the game after three years of complex negotiations between Activision, Courtney Love (who controls Cobain’s estate), and Universal Publishing (who control Nirvana’s catalog). Love apparently had some input into the appearance of Cobain’s avatar, which sports the singer’s famous cardigan-and-“Frog”-t-shirt look. They still haven’t got the mouth animations quite right.

As this newly released Cobain trailer shows, you’ll be able to thrash your way through “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and a live version of “Lithium,” all while looking forward to the inevitable Michael Jackson appearance in Guitar Hero 6.
