WWE News: Backstage Update On Sasha Banks, Was She Cleared Early?

When a WWE superstar teases a bad announcement before Monday Night Raw or Smackdown Live, it’s usually not good news. The first one to do that was Edge after WrestleMania 27. Twitter wasn’t prevalent back then, but when WWE Raw first hit the air, they teased a huge announcement that would shock the entire company. Without social media and internet reporting taking center stage, Edge’s announcement was a secret.

He ended up retiring in the ring that night in a very solemn moment for the WWE Universe. The next instance of that happening was Daniel Bryan Instead of waiting until that night to announce his retirement, Bryan tweeted the news out, which had the entire WWE Universe talking. People thought it was a work, and the American Dragon was only teasing his return to the squared circle. Instead, Bryan said he was done due to injury.

The WWE decided to have another superstar do the same thing and send the WWE Universe into a controlled frenzy online. Sasha Banks, former-WWE Women’s champion, took to Twitter and said she had some bad news for the WWE Universe. Since she was already out with a back injury, WWE fans began to scramble and figure out what her news exactly was. A select few considered that it was bad news for Charlotte, and the rematch for the Women’s championship would be on.

Luckily for everyone, that was the case. Dana Brooke interrupted her promo just as she was about to release her news. She took out Brooke and said at Clash of the Champions, Banks would get her rematch against Charlotte. It comes as a big surprise considering the injury she sustained. She wasn’t intended to come back until after September. In a new report by Daily Wrestling News, Sasha Banks could be returning early.

“Dave Meltzer mentioned on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that this is a case of Sasha getting cleared early because she did not need surgery after WWE officials originally believed she would be out longer. At least some plans for Bayley were changed because of Sasha’s status changes but the original plan for Clash of Champions did have Sasha vs. Charlotte in the Women’s Title match.”

If she comes back too early, she is only hurting herself in the long run. Banks is so young and for someone that young to already be out from nagging injuries, that can’t be a good future to have as a professional wrestler. There’s a reason Daniel Bryan had to retire early. He had a career that was near 10 years, but without the high-flying moves 300 nights a year, it could have lasted much longer. Triple H, John Cena, and Randy Orton will wrestle for as long as they want to because of the style they adopted.

Sasha Banks can only do so much to save her in-ring future. She’ll wrestle the same way despite hurting her longevity in the business. It appears that her opponents aren’t doing her body any favors. At SummerSlam, Charlotte was evidently careless with Banks, which caused her to take time off. Banks was already dealing with injuries, but it didn’t help.

Charlotte was even yelled at backstage for being careless with Banks in their WWE Women’s championship match. For an accomplished grappler such as Charlotte, there was no excuse for how she treated Banks in their title bout. A lot of WWE fans were agitated at how that went down. Even so, it seems that Banks doesn’t care about her health during matches. As a fan, hopefully, she tones it down in the future. Perhaps, she could learn something from the Miz’s promo.
