How Evan Bass Got The Girl On ‘Bachelor In Paradise,’ And What Carly’s Ex, Kirk DeWindt, Thinks Of Her Comments About Their Failed Romance

Evan Bass went to Paradise, and he fell in love. Now, the 33-year-old erectile dysfunction specialist is back in the real world, and he is still in a relationship with his Bachelor in Paradise love, Carly Waddell. Indeed, Evan and Carly’s whirlwind summer romance turned into the real deal despite a rocky start.

In an interview with Glamour, Waddell revealed why she changed her mind about Bass after she telling him she wasn’t interested in him when he initially pursued her. The Bachelor alum said it was Evan’s trip to the emergency room that changed her tune. Bass may have pretended to fake that he was sick, but in reality, he had two infections.

“The hospital date—where [Evan] got sick and went to the hospital,” she said of when her feelings for Bass changed. “He had two infections, actually. There were no cameras, and it felt like I was dating in normal life…It was just this thing that was a roller coaster, and it started out where I broke up with him like five times. It was a rollercoaster.”

The “Cevan” connection is a far cry from Carly’s 2015 Bachelor in Paradise romance with Kirk DeWindt. DeWindt famously got cold feet and dumped her on last summer’s season finale.

One year later, Waddell described the blindside breakup as being “kirked,” telling Bachelor in Paradise cameras: “No one wants to be kirked.” DeWindt hasn’t commented on his ex’s relationship with Evan Bass, but he did offer up this response to Carly’s newly coined word:

But now it’s a whole new deal with Evan Bass. While Evan and Carly went back and forth on Bachelor in Paradise, this unlikely couple has a lot in their favor, including the fact that they live just seven minutes from one another in Nashville. In addition, they are on the same page when it comes to their relationship.

“Evan and I are completely on the same page feelings-wise, and Kirk and I never were,” Carly told Glamour.

“I think that’s why this is actually going to work. Evan was going for me since day one, and it took me a long time to catch up. I think when I finally did, magic happened…I have to keep thanking Kirk because if he hadn’t [broken up with me], I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t have met Evan, and I wouldn’t be in love. It’s crazy. I had no idea this would happen to me at all. At all.”

And although Evan Bass has three kids, that also doesn’t seem to be a problem for his new love, who says she’s “so into” the fact that Evan is already a father.

“I’m 30. I want kids; he wants more kids. We’ve already discussed that. He has three boys—ages 14, 11, and 8. We’ve talked about having kids. He wants more, and I’m game. We’re just going to be maybe one big happy family, and I’m so excited. I can’t even contain my excitement for that.”

The post-Paradise plan is for Evan to introduce Carly to his three sons, and then he will meet her family, including her Bachelorette alum brother, Zak.

Of course, when Evan Bass first came onto the scene in JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette, many fans wrote his job title off as a joke. (You know, kind of like the “Chicken Enthusiast?”) But it is his real job, as can be evidenced in the interview below, which Bass did three years ago to talk about his clinics.

In an interview with Yahoo TV, host Chris Harrison said Evan is an extremely normal guy despite his unorthodox occupation.

“On top of being a good cocktail joke, [Evan] is a really decent guy,” Harrison said. “He is a single father raising three boys while running a chain of clinics. He is very normal and down-to-earth. He is used to the real world of working and making lunches for the kids compared to the puffed-up party guys.”
