‘Fear The Walking Dead,’ Season 2, Episode 11: Did Alejandro Really Get Bitten By One Of The Infected? [Video]

Episode 9 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead revealed a character called Alejandro who may actually be immune to the bite of the infected. However, did the sneak peek video for the upcoming Episode 11, just cast doubt on his story?

Spoiler alert: This article discusses Episode 10 and Season 2 of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

In Episode 9 of Fear the Walking Dead, Luciana (Danay Garcia) revealed to Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) that Alejandro (Paul Calderon) was immune to the bite from the infected. If this is the case, he is the first person in the Walking Dead universe that is actually immune. If Alejandro is immune, it will certainly open up a whole new world of interesting storylines moving forward in Fear the Walking Dead.

The official story is that Alejandro was bitten by one of the infected. Rather than getting sick from the bite, though, he recovered fully. His scar was revealed to Nick, so regardless of who bit him, it is pretty clear Alejandro was bitten on the shoulder at a recent point in time.

Many fans, however, have speculated, as ComicBook points out, that Alejandro may be lying in order to protect himself, much in the same way Eugene did in The Walking Dead. Alejandro is a pharmacist, not a fighter, so it could just be a very clever ploy to get the people around him to protect him. However, Luciana did tell Nick she saw the incident and can vouch for the validity of the event. If Alejandro is lying, so is she.

What we do know about Alejandro from what we have seen of him in Fear the Walking Dead, is that he is not adverse to lying when required. Episode 9 saw him tell Nick that he was injecting a sick man with saline in order to give the man hope rather than create fear.

The sneak peek trailer for Episode 11 (entitled “Pablo & Jessica”) of Fear the Walking Dead shows Nick and Alejandro talking about the incident. This clip reveals more of the story behind Alejandro getting bitten. But does it reveal that Alejandro may not have been bitten by one of the infected?

Alejandro is explaining to Nick how there was a boy, about Nick’s age, that roamed the streets of the local area. He was also a drug addict, like Nick. Apparently he took a drug, after the outbreak, that made him appear to be one of the infected. The locals rounded him up, wanting to place him in with the other infected. Alejandro tried to rescue this boy and was bitten. He admits that during the rescue attempt it was “chaos” with all the undead around him, so it is possible he misjudged who bit him. He also makes the following statement.

“And in this moment, as I was beaten by the living, I was bitten by the dead.”

So Alejandro admits there were plenty of the living around him when he attempted to rescue the boy. Does this mean Alejandro was not bitten by the undead in Fear the Walking Dead? If so, does he know he wasn’t bitten by one of the infected and is lying about it to keep himself safe, or is he genuinely oblivious to the fact he could have been bitten by a human rather than one of the undead? Only by tuning into further episodes of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead will reveal all as Fear‘s showrunner has confirmed the truth will eventually be revealed.

“The truth of Alejandro and the question of faith is something we will play out over the course of the season, and we’ll address it ultimately,” he revealed to Entertainment Weekly.
